looking ahead to tomorrow we have a wide area of potential severe weather extending from central and north texas right through the missouri river valley into the midwest, as far north as michigan and extending as far east it looks like as portions of ohio. >> dubois: david we talked about reports of 47 tornadoes this, we but no fatalities. how do you account for that? >> well, i think we have a number of factors that we need to look at, maurice. the biggest one is we have a better lead time weapon the technology is better. the forecasting is better. the lead time 20 years ago was maybe five minutes on a tornado warping. that's increased to 14 minutes. also we have hundreds of chasers out across the plains observing these storms. that can give firsthand information to forecasters. and finally, part of it is just luck. a lot of these storms are out in rural countryside. they don't affect anyone and occasionally you get something like a moore tornado that does hit a populated area and of course that's where we get the worst damage. >> dubois: okay, david, thank you very much, tonight. in houston, t
