a red flag warning is in effect through the weekend with the strongest wind in the northbay, east bay hills and santa cruz mountains. the wind will also pick up at lower elevations, the big concern, there is a lot of vegetation from last winter's reins. you can see the overgrown brush in fairfield. that could be fuel for a potentially dangerous fire. let's head over to paul heggen with what we need to know. >> we have a treo avenue -- trio of advisories. the one that is top of mind is the red flag warning for most of the bay area, not just the highest elevations, some lower elevations have been included. gusty offshore wind combining with low humidity levels to really elevate the fire threat. the highest gusts are going to be in the northbay mountains where we could see 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts. that is a dangerous combination, the fire conditions may not be quite as dire in other parts of the bay area but they will also be elevated. we also have a wind advisory mainly in the higher elevations, we have the potential of downed trees and power lines. be prepared for some power outage

we have a little rain in the northbay, not much elsewhere. today's cold front has been able to do in terms of rain so far, on the virtual map. no surprise, here, we have not got any rain for the majority of the bay, these numbers are all sitting at zero. there is one place where we can say we have got some rain in an official gate. not a lot, but take a look at santa rosa, the one place so far where we actually have tipped the bucket, 1/100 of an inch of rain so far for santa rosa. you can see that petaluma has not done anything yet either. let's go back to the wide view. we will switch our vantage point, lose the numbers, and even lose the. i want to show you what the future cats has to say about what is coming our way next. to do that, let's go back to the image that had live updating first alert doppler on it, you can see where the rain bands are, coming in for most of the bay. if we pause that and put it into now, and switch from live into futurecast, we get a beautiful depiction of where the rain actually is. now, we can take that, and p

start getting into the valleys, if you're just on the downwind side of the mountain range in the northbay, you can expect gusts to pick up. it's not going to be terrible, but it's going to be windier than it is now, and drier air, and that's why this becomes a concern. the other way to talk about this is to look at where the wind advisory is. the red flood warning takes into account when in low humidity's, when advisory is telling you that it's going to be windy in the mountains, and this will go through the late morning and early afternoon, and by 5:00 it will die down. it will be a beautiful day, back in the mid-70s, it's going to be wonderful, but we've got to get through this day. there's your first alert status, the rest of the forecast is uneventful, there is an increasing clouds by the end of the week which means my thursday and friday, there is a 10% chance of rain, so we will get back into that side of fall, these rainmakers. right now we're in the offshore wind cited let's get through tonight. next you. >> coming up in sports, world series game two got out of hand for one team,

you can see they pick up more speed over the northbay mountains. this is the ideal situation because the wind is not strong enough for any kind of fire weather concerns. there are no red flag warnings being issued. if we look at the forecast in detail, you can see the northwinds pickup. that is tomorrow morning. you have a 20 miles per hour wind going over the mountains. it is really barely noticeable for the rest of us except, look at the way the wind is going. it is blowing offshore. that is putting a big nope on the marine layer. it is great news as we look ahead to fleet week because last year, the marine layer was kind of a bad thing for the show. this year it does not look like that will happen. if we take a look at how the temperatures are responding, the colors show you how much warmer we are about to get. look at the bay. another way to look at that is the tool the national weather service started using a few years ago to communicate with a higher degree of heat related health risks might come. we are only getting into the moderate categor

we will see a little bit of wind in the northbay mountains tomorrow morning. a very quick burst of wind from 5:00 into 8:00 where we could see gusts of 50 to 35 miles per hour. otherwise, as we roll through tomorrow's forecast, we begin on the chilly side. plenty of low 50s for tomorrow morning. jacket weather in play. we are down to 52 for the south bay. also a chilly start for the north way at 49. that is the coldest zone in the forecast and for the east bay, 53. heading through tomorrow afternoon, the numbers again to go hotter but we are not expecting any 90s certainly note 100s. no way that will happen but we will get up to 80 in santa rosa. 81 in concord. the low 80s in san jose to morgan hill. 78 palo alto and 60s at the coastline. dry tomorrow but we are looking at our chances ahead and i do not really see any big rain chances coming our way. it is just the slight chance heading into friday night and into saturday morning. the second chance we have been looking at for early next week on monday. it really is showing the most of this should be going to t
