temperatures are mild in the 60s all across the bay area, even the northbay communities have been wakinghe low 50s and upper 40s, about five to 10 degrees cooler than what you were yesterday because of the cloud coverage, it insulates us keeping us mild and it is also bringing quite a lot of rainfall across california and over there, that is snow in the sierra. that is crazy for this time of year, it has been about 20 years since the sierra nevada mountains have seen august snowfall so it has been a while, it is not record-breaking but it is definitely abnormal as that large low pressure system is swirling across the pacific northwest and because we are on the southern edge of this system there is not nearly as much moisture to the fact we are seeing anything is always a welcome sight. most of the rain already fell this morning, there's a potential for a couple more drizzles, pockets of isolated showers across the northbay into the later afternoon and early evening, maybe around antioch around 6:00 you could see an isolated drizzle. overnight and into early tomorrow, cannot rule out an i

northbay valleys get a break, as well. livermore going to 91 tomorrow.hat is a little above average, as is san jose at 84 but these numbers are only three or four degrees above average. this is about a six degree cooldown tomorrow from where you were today. another day with another impressive round of thunderstorms showing up in the sierra and we can watch the lightning across tahoe. there was a good amount of rain with this so we are not concerned about fire today because there was enough widespread watching rain that came down today and tomorrow that pattern is going to start quieting down. if you look at what was going on here, this counterclockwise spin is what has been responsible for the last two days of lightning across the state. this area of low pressure supercharged moisture coming in from the southwest. thankfully, we appear to have escaped those two days without any significant fire starts, which is good, considering the coverage we've done on the park fire. look at the smoke forecast. this is an optimistic outlook. there is not a lot of smok

northbay communities looking at plenty of sunshine while fog is sticking around in the coastal communities is getting a bit thicker over the next hour or so. and that is something we will keep our eyes on. by later today the fog will clear and it will allow for some gorgeous conditions. if you had out to the giants game, i will be there, versus the white sox. cooling down to the mid to lower 60s by the afternoon hours. you may be wondering how breezy it is going to be, we will not have to worry about too much of that. it just locked me out of my system. so i will log back in pretty quickly and talk to you while i do so. that's the fun thing about technology. we are back on air and we will continue to see windy conditions throughout the next couple of hours. throughout the afternoon, wind gusts are anywhere from 10 to 15 miles an hour. it is going to be breezy today but nothing too incredibly crazy. 10 to 20 miles an hour, not expecting 30 to 35 miles an hour. i hope everyone can get out and enjoy a pretty nice day of weather. there will be a gradual heat up on the way over the next 24 hour

over 70,000 californians have been impacted by the destruction of the butte fire, the northbay fire, and the campfire. now, when a fire victim is wading through the ashes of their former home and thinking about how to rebuild -- not just their homes but their lives -- the last thing that wildfire victims should have to worry about is how they're going to pay taxes on any settlement they receive. madam president, disaster settlement funds are not income. disaster settlement funds are not assets. it's compensation for what they've lost, and insufficient most of the time, at that. but disaster settlement funds are also meant to be an opportunity to begin to rebuild your life. an opportunity that should not be diminished because our government tax codes are outdated. so i was proud to see that the wyden-smith tax package includes my bill, the protect innocent victims of taxation after fire act. it would make sure that people who have suffered from a heartbreaking wildfire can receive full compensation for their losses without the fear that their settlements will be subject to taxes. and
