on the northbound side of 395 at the 14th street bridge. let's take a live look now from our vdot cameras. the accident is now in the hands of arlington county police. you can see they've set it up so you can get by to the right side of the road. there was a car and motorcycle involved. they're telling us it shouldn't be there for much longer but i think the damage is done on the northbound side of 395. it's never too early for an accident to cause delays in washington. let's take a live look at washington boulevard where i think a lot of people are veering off the road here to get to the memorial bridge which could be still a good idea for you if you're heading out the door. of course i'll keep you posted on this situation. again here at washington boulevard it still looks okay heading for that accident at the 14th street bridge. let's go over to the north side of town where things have been fine. no problems here at the american legion bridge west side or coming in from the north on 270. you're going to be fine. in my next report we'll ta

once imep be trouble in virginia along northbound i-95. the crew in sky fox made their way to one of the accident we've been talking about. this happens to be northbound along i-95 as you approach route one in woodbridge. the two left lanes are tied up at the scene of this accident. if you are coming northbound be expect to be in a back upheaded north from at least potomac mills. this is the two left lanes that are blocked in the main line. fire and rescue units on the scene with state police over to the left shoulder. some traffic is able to squeeze by at the scene but if you are traveling northbound, expect to have a slow go out of dale city probably back to the potomac mills sign. we have another fire truck that just rolled up on the scene. that looks like it is pushing folks, at least that one tractor-trailer off to the shoulder to get by. coming northbound on i-95, stay to the right as you travel north of dale see in towards woodbridge. eastbound 66 leaving fair oak headed in towards 123, lanes are open, not too busy, at least not rig

the southbound and the northbound lanes. they had just opened up the southbound lane. investigators were still working on the vehicles so the northbound lanes were closed. you'll know this was in the northbound lane about a mile shy of where benfield boulevard is. southbound traffic was moving fine and both vehicles were on the scene. and it looked like both of them had a direct head-on collision on the driver's side. one person was flown to shock traffic maw and they were not this. unfortunately the other person the body was still on the scene and ownership not sure if they were ejected from the vehicle or pulled out by fire and emergency personnel but certainly a tragic accident. we've seen that before on route 301 and route 50 we had that some time ago and we're not sure why this happened but originally police are telling us that both vehicles were in the northbound lane one of them traveling the wrong way. and ended up with a tragic accident. >> reporter: i took a look at the video there. those cars were pretty banged up there. just a terrible accident. >> one was

in the northbound lane of i-97 a mile south of ben field old exit. one person died in the crash and he was actually pronounced dead on the scene. another person was take on the shock trauma by medevac. now maryland state police tell us that one of the cars may have been traveling in the wrong direction on i-97 when it ran into another car. state troopers at one point had to shut down the northbound and southbound lanes for medevac to come and land. now once again, southbound lane on i-97 is reopened to traffic as well as the northbound lane. it took crews a little while to reopen those lanes because they had to investigate and also clean up the debris. but we are told as of just a few minutes ago both lanes are open to traffic and just in time for rush hour. right now dotlike turn it over to my colleague lauren cook for more on traffic. good morning. >>> good morning. well as you said 97 has reopened. the crash happened right around 1:30 this morning. right between ben field road and route 3. but everything will be back to normal in the area. police
