police had followed a vehicle, a white chevy cruise from around the hyattsville area into northeast washington into rhode island avenue and they say they did take into custody daron wint the 34-year-old wanted in connection with the quadruple homicide over on woodland drive in northwest washington that resulted in the death of three family members as well as their housekeeper. it's a very active scene here. from what i understand he is also -- he was taken into custody here. there were a few other people in the vehicle with him. i'm told three women were in the car. pulled over guns were drawn and they got out. from what i understand it was without incident. the arrest was without incident. here again on rhode island avenue in northeast washington and, again, he was taken into custody by police and will be facing the four murder charges and people can rest easy tonight that this murder suspect has been taken into custody here in northeast washington. back to you. >> thanks darcy. >> there have been some questions and some speculation earlier about whether daron wint would come back in and turn

jennifer donelan leon: let's get to the stunning breaking news coming out of northeast washington where sources are telling us that daron wint the man wanted in connection with the mansion murders, is in custody. jennifer donelan is at the scene. what have you learned? jennifer: i have information coming in as we speak. this is an incredible scene on rhode island avenue, completely shut down. this is the united states capital regional area task force that may the takedown. the search for the man wanted in the heinous murders of four human beings in northwest -- the search for him, we confirm, is over. repeat, he is in custody. rhode island avenue, shut down. we have a huge presence of u.s. marshals ndc police. i can tell you they tracked him from d.c. up north to the new york area, and back here, he was in a hotel, we are told, on route one. u.s. marshals, doing their thing. they got to that hotel. they discovered that he was in a car. from what we understand from sources, they follow that car. there were two cars involved. it was him trailing a truck, the truck allegedly being driven b

marshals followed him from the motel into northeast washington. that's when they moved in and arrested not only wint but several other people. they also recovered a very large amount of cash. the howard johnson's in college park is filled with families in town for the university of maryland graduation. some found it unsettling that a wanted murderer was staying in the same motel. >> i guess we were fortunate not to have a run in with him. >> reporter: the fugitive task force tracked daron dylon wint to the howard johnson's last night, but before u.s. marshals could make an arrest he got into a chevy cruze with some other people and drove away. also on the move with wint, a small box truck. u.s. marshals followed and a few miles down the road in northeast washington they boxed in the car and the truck on rhode island avenue. daron wint did not resist. he was arrested along with a number of people including a few women. police found at least $10,000 in the box truck. the arrest ends an intense manhunt that stretched all the way to new york city and

then they pulled that vehicle over on rhode island avenue in northeast washington. and they made the arrest without incident. now, we are learning that there are two vehicles actually that are part of this. there was a sedan and there's a small box truck. both of those vehicles were towed away by police and are impounded and are now part of this criminal investigation. wint has been charged in the deaths of the savopoulos family and their housekeeper, vera figueroa. the big break of course coming in this case when police analyzed a pizza crust that was found at the crime scene. sources say that wint's dna was founden that kr-- found on that crust. that of course sparked the manhunt. that search now over as daron wint is in police custody. back to you in the studio. >> megan mcgrath for us live, thanks so much. >>> this morning we are learning that wint's cell phone led investigators to new york. they say some time after he torched the savopoulos family's porsche last week he got on a bus to new york city. police tracked him down in brooklyn by his phone. that's wher

alison: it was a northeast regional train that left from washington, d.c., just a few hours ago on its way to new york city. richard reeve is live at union station with the latest. richard? richard: this was northeast regional number 188 that left union station at about 7:10 p.m. due to go to new york city. this is regarded as a mass castle the incident. that means the fire department police emergency services have all hands on deck at the location. what we have been seeing, what we have been talking about earlier reports said that the train shook as it went around a turn. another report said the trainers seem to shift onto its right side. we know that about 200 people were on the train, 8 to 10 cars derailed, at least two on their side. we have heard reports of 50, 60 people injured, lacerations, broken bones, things like that. we know that an ntsb team is on their way, search teams, as you may be showing on the video looking with flashlights. they are hoping to get floodlights from the police department soon. the first priority is search and rescue anybody inside the wreckage first.

the amtrak northeast regional train heading from washington to new york left the tracks around 9:30 lastight. you can see the cars involved there. six cars including the engine came off the tracks. first responders were on scene within minutes pulling victims from the wreckage. five area hospitals are still treating injured this morning.
