we already have camp in northeast florida up and running which can house over 100,000 utility workers three other locations being prepared should they need it. we're going to do everything we can to make sure the utility companies get power back on as quickly as possible. these resources will be available to any utility. let's remember this. power saves lives. we want everybody to get their power back as quickly as possible. damage assessments are just coming in in areas where the storm has passed. the u.s. army corps of engineers are currently conducting their assessments of lake okeechobee. the water management district is still holding water north to prevent more water from going into the lake. this morning, the national guard will conduct assessments in south florida. once they complete any recovery missions, they will join the troops deployed ipcentral and north florida. so what's going to happen is as we saw problems in the south, we'll keep moving all these assets up north. we won't be sending them home. our goal is to keep solving problems. i have spoken to quite a few people

but it is still crushing northeast florida. you can see these big bands coming in from the northeast. but the heaviest, the eyewall is still out over the ocean. the problem is the eyewall moving to the north, guess what is in its way? south carolina. that's what we're going to be watching tonight. 110 miles per hour category 2 storm. it dropped five miles an hour. the categories have to start and end somewhere, but it's not that big a deal that it went from a 3 to a 2. as we go through the night tonight, it's headed towards savannah, then makes a right turn. how fast that right turn is will of course be critical. still over 100 miles an hour when it gets to south carolina. 90 miles per hour when it's passed charleston. then it makes that right turn. and then another right turn, and it's going around in a circle, but does not come up in our direction. like a typical hurricane would at this time of the year, come straight up. so that cold front that's coming through tomorrow is really going to save us. there really aren't any com

for some really high storm surge, potentially catastrophic, still being forecast here for the northeast floridacoast. i want to show you the radar and the current information, still a category 4 hurricane. hurricane hunters are in there right now, brian. as i was telling you earlier, there's an inner ring and an outer ring of thunderstorms, the ir inner eye wall and the outer eye wall. the outer eye wall is taking over, suggesting weakening may be happening, but the outer eye wall is larger than the inner eye wall. the way i liken it is, if you're in your swimming pool, use your finger to push water toward the edge of the pool. you might push it a little with your finger but if you use your warm you'll push a lot more water. that's the case here. you're going from an eight-mile-wide distance to now a 40 or 50 or even 60-mile-wide distance. this is a much larger system. so it has the potential here to bring some big impacts. and it's not just the storm surge. you have to also consider too the wave action, especially along this coast of florida, the first coast of florida, st. augustine, jacksonv
