she faked her own abduction, and today that northern california mother faced a judge for the first time after agreeing to a plea deal. chemicals captured sherri papini outside the courthouse in sacramento. yesterday she took a plea deal and issued an apology. now she's expected to plead guilty formally next week. in 2016, papini claimed she was kidnapped by two hispanic women who kept her chained in a closet and branded her. after 22 days, she was found injured and dazed. the fbi says papini was really staying with an ex-boyfriend down in southern california. last month, federal authorities arrested her. she now faces up to 20 years in prison and must pay $300,000 in restitution. >>> some other stories that we're watching tonight, a milestone moment in california. the state deciding on reparations for the descendants of enslaved people. the commission in charge of this project had its first in-person meeting today. it happened at the third baptist church in san francisco. california is the only state to formally explore what kind of relief people might get and who might qualify. the ide

some rainfall coming in across northern california. yes, we'll get our chance across the bay area. as we started off, let's look at what is coming our way. and let's think about it for a second. this time last week, we had temperatures in the 80s. summer-like weather. and now here we go. back to back systems. we cobble get this pattern if we tried in january and february. in fact, we went down as the top ten driest on record for much of northern california. so this is a stark change for us. as we head into tomorrow, we have some spotty rain in the forecast. and then by saturday, that still looks like the best bet for widespread rainfall. let's get a look right now. for most of us, some much welcomed rainfall. you will see on doppler radar, we've will a little activity over the higher elevations in the east bay. the bulk still remains to the north of snowsa. we're running a couple hours behind. i'm not too worried about it. i think as we head into the overnight hours, we'll see this develop and push more to the south. over san francisco

some rain up in far northern california. but those clouds move on through behind that. we've got that big dome of high pressure building in tomorrow. we start to heat up are out there. these temperatures are going to hot this week ahead out there right now. you've got some scattered light showers toward eureka, but that's about as close as it's going to get some clouds moving on through. but that is about it to high pressure. we'll begin to take over as this ridge builds in behind that front. guess what these temperatures are going to soar. in fact tonight, likely to see more of a northerly component to win, at least in the north bay. but i think that will be more pronounced as we get the next couple of days. the majority likely see an offshore wind all the way to the coastline. we could be talking about some 70's right out the beach here as we head in toward wednesday and thursday should be fantastic. although some hot 90's in the valleys. alright, temperatures outside this evening. a little bit cooler spots. we've got fog along the coastline moving on shore right now
