this is really a northern california event. the last event we saw was mainly southern california. and that, of course, was helped helped us wet down the with fires. so that was a good thing. now it's more northern california and the latest computer models. and in fact, the actual rain have showing it right across the bay area as well. not terribly heavy right now. yesterday. not bad. this is the computer model showing us by sunday at 11 30, you start to see the precipitation pull up a little bit. so we get more of a break on sunday. we'll get some showers but lighter rain, lighter showers tomorrow. today will be heavier. monday will be happier. so sunday is kind of in-between day. you'll notice it's not just rain in the bay area. looking here, snow in the sierra, nevada and also snow in lake county. this is great news because it's not just great for the skiers. there's been some serious concerns about the snow pack. they did a snow pack survey that and water managers on friday and we're way below normal that to earth. 2 thirds what we ought to be in terms of snowpack in the sierra

a lot in northern california and quite a bit even for us. and also quite a bit into southern california. now, the computer models are not agreeing on the timing of this doesn't come in wednesday or thursday. the computer models do anything in green and the intensity. it really depends on where the storm lands. but for us across the bay area, we could see one to 3 inches in the lower elevations and more in the higher elevations. we could certainly see flooding problems again, urban flooding areas where we have poor drainage. you could have flooding there as well. this is our total rainfall through friday night. so you can see almost 3 inches in santa rosa. so some areas will see quite a bit. and those also concerned with the small streams and creeks, they could also rise forecast highs tomorrow about like today numbers in the mid 50's to low 60's. so another beautiful day after a chilly start. we do it all again. day after day after day. and then things really change to take a look at the 10 day forecast. this is our famous 10 at 10 and we st

our states now tracking a dozen more gray wolves in northern california.department of fish and wildlife captured and released the wolves during the last two weeks of january in four northern california counties. five males and seven females were fitted with satellite collars. biologists also recorded their body measurements and took blood samples before releasing them back where they were captured. rangers say tracking the wolves will help improve research and management of the endangered species. wildlife officials captured a mountain lion that was romping through a southern california neighborhood. the mountain lion ran across rooftops, jumped over fences and crossed several streets in camarillo. after officers with the department of fish and wildlife cornered the mountain lion, they shot it with a tranquilizer dart. >> so they once they shot it, you don't hear the shot, but once they shot it, they said, oh, it took off. it took off and it went. it went in the front yard, across the street to another yard, jumped the fence to that yard, went into the bac

and it's just now approaching northern california. then by about 5 or 6:00 in the morning, it's moving into the north bay. as it moves through the bay area, it is expected to kind of fall apart. so it's the north bay that will see the most amount of rain out of this, but we may see a sprinkle or two late morning early afternoon before it pushes out. so it's a quick moving system and it's not carrying a whole lot of rain. as you can see there, when it comes to rainfall amounts a 10th of an inch or less, perhaps a few 107 inch for some. a lot like what we experienced over the weekend and then into the sierra, anywhere from 1 to 2, maybe three inches of high elevation snow expected here. no advisories for travel if you are heading up tomorrow, but always a good idea to have the snow tires or the chains this time of year and keep an eye on the forecast because it could change. here's a look at what we're expecting tomorrow morning, temperature wise. under a mix of mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers, low 40s to low 50 and then into

just cloudier conditions as we look at the northern river is going to be across northern california. ughout much of the rain throughout much of the later parts of today and into tomorrow. and again you'll be seeing maybe the northern most parts of the bay area getting in on some heavier action tomorrow. that's really going to be it. southern half of the bay area likely just going to be cloudy and even the showers we see across the north bay aren't going to be anything too crazy. maybe an additional half of an inch. you see that nose of moisture. that nose of atmospheric river activity that will be pushing furtherer south by the time we step out monday. monday afternoon and evening. those heavier downpours will be arriving to our north bay communities and pushing south across the entirety of the bay area. where we could be seeing quite a lot of rain. especially across those highest elevations. today and into tomorrow. again an additional inch and a half on top of the inch that has already fallen across santa rosa, san rafael. that's going to be bringing the totals to 2-inches across th

and as they do so they're going to bring widespread rain from los angeles all the way up to northern californiaously includes us here in the bay area and we are going to be seeing rounds of on again/off again showers throughout the day tomorrow. aimed into early friday morning. by later today into saturday, drying conditions and clearing skies and much quieter weather will arrive in time for the weekend ahead of us. this afternoon, can't rule out the isolated sprinkle just up across our north bay communities. but we'll look at how much sunshine we're going to be seeing today compared to yesterday. a beautiful sunset is on the way before that thicker cloud coverage will stream in ahead of the storm system that's going to bring widespread rainfall again it's not going to be nearly as heavy as the storm system that we saw yesterday it could bring some gusty winds 30, 40 miles per hour but we are not expecting those 60 to 70-mile an hour gusts. we're going to be again seeing the many sporadic activity by friday but by friday evening into saturday, quieter weather and calmer conditions. and i have t

what's happening in northern california? recently, they decided, after many year, to tear down, this is kind of related to that subject. four dams on the klamath river you see some of the klamath system here that helps transfer water to agriculture to other needs and wildlife as well. tore them down. took down four dams that produce hydroelectric power. the co-2-free power everybody thinks they want. tore them down. guess what's happening now? they're getting rain in the area. getting flooding in certain areas. we'll get more flooding with even greater amount of rain. because we don't have the dams anymore as a tool. all ostensibly to help a fish population go up and down the klamath river. the flaw in that thinking is klamath lake is a system that is based on a very shallow, rather warm lake up here. that feeds the rest of the system here. that is not really the best for the salmon that they're talking about. but we gloss over that. we want to tear the dams out and score a win. they got their way. they scored them. now the

the focus is really still over northern california. en it begins to spread tuesday down into southern california, finally allowing places like los angeles and san diego to get some much needed rain. but even as that system spreads down, you have a secondary system that will arrive right on the heels of it, beginning to bring more rain and snow back to portions of northern california, as well as oregon and washington state. so overall, looking through the next several days, you are looking at substantial amounts of snow, widespread 12 to 18in. but as i mentioned, some spots 2 to 4ft is not out of the question. rainfall will be heaviest across portions of northern and central california. widespread totals of 3 to 6in, but not out of the question for a few isolated spots to get as much as 8 to 10in total. the forecast for los angeles. it remains dry on monday and tuesday, although you do have that favorable onshore flow here. the temperatures remain steady, but you look at the days from wednesday, thursday and friday finally getting some m
