there are areas of rain in the panhandle of virginia, and parts of northern maryland. it is a little more study in western washington county. there is also more lined up in west virginia. once the first round passes, we have this badge over central west virginia that will make a beeline for the mason-dixon line. most of the rain will be isolated north of the metro. later on, we get in and the action. look at the moisture that has -- on the action. but the moisture that is already dropped. this is part of the system have been talking about for a few days. behind that warm front is the warm air associated with it, and that is being pulled north. this will slide into place right over washington tonight, and into tomorrow, and we will have a unique situation. 50 degrees in the district. 43 in gaithersburg. 38 in hagerstown. 54 with a little bit of sun in fredericksburg. temperatures will climb while we are sleeping. normally temperatures drop. we will be lower-60's when we wake up tomorrow morning with thunderstorms. do not be surprised if you hear the rumbles of thunder.

up into northern maryland as well. all below freezing. that's the spot that we're watching most carefully. the freezing rain advisory now goes until 9:00 tomorrow morning for essentially everywhere in the nbc 4 viewing area with the lone exception of st. mary's county. on doppler nothing showing up on local doppler. the droplets are so small that the radar literally cannot even see them. it's just mist and drizzle for now. real rain, though, is just back out to our west. and it's all in the form of rain. temperatures are in the 40s and 50s even as we approach the midnight hour out here across parts of the ohio valley. so that warm air is going to run over the top of the subfreezing air that we have at the surface. that's going to make for some slippery spots during the overnight into the early morning hours tomorrow. granted that wedge of cold air will be eroded on out as the warmer air surges north, and then we'll get a rainy day in tomorrow, rain through late morning into early afternoon for sure. the actual cold fro
