mexico. hurricane season goes to november 30th. as we watch karen, we watched storm track from cuba up to the northern gulf of mexico.s previous models showed us it is falling apart and getting weaker. we are still going to get areas of rainfall that is locally heavy in places where we had 3-5 inches of rain. we'll add anywhere from 1-3. from louisiana, along the coastline of mississippi, alabama, and to the northern panhandle. i can say the forecast continues to show the showers over sunday and monday, tracking across the area. it's not as heavy yoi or windy as we expected. in fact we currently saw the tropical storm watch for florida drop. because it drops, we still have to be aware we'll have rip currants, some breezy conditions, and certainly rainfall in a saturated place. >> a lot of extreme weather across the country. as many as nine tornados hit nebraska and io weigh. there's damage in wayne. it's estimated the tornados will cost millions in damage. there was extreme weather in south dakota in the past 24 hours, areas walloped with up to 3.5 feet of snow. three there killed. the storm was forecast in an unusua

are watching it track up it's -- or was south of cuba, now tracking up towards the northern portion of the gulf of mexico friday. and this storm is going to bring about three to five-inches of rain in to parts of louisiana and north florida so more rain coming where we are already soggy. another storm in the pacific northwest is not just going to impact washington and oregon, it's going to hit california, nevada, wyoming, montana, and it's going to keep heading east as we get in to the next five to six days, now, this storm has got some cold air behind it. it's actually a front that you can see the back edge right along the back edge of that line of clouds. that's where the cold air starts pushing in. so first we get rain, for western washington, western oregon, changes over to snow, around 4500 to 5,000 feet in the washington cascades, winds pick up for california, in to nevada, and, boy, is it going to be windy. we are talking santa ana winds actually here for southern california which will gust 40 to 50 miles an hour. peak winds for the santa anas will be friday morning to saturday morning. now, as we

there is tropical storm karen, spinning her wheels in the northern gulf of mexico. tropical depression now. forecast track a little bit of a change here. yesterday the forecast track was to bring most of the moisture up the spine of the appalachians. because of the area of high pressure coming in on us, it looks like it will keep most of the moisture down to our south. that being said, we still have to deal with an awful lot of tropical moisture inching its way up ahead of this weather front. deep moisture out ahead and the lift with that cold front coming through means tomorrow could be a very busy day. may even have to worry about severe weather. not much of a hail threat. damaging winds will be possible. could get one to two inches of rain in a short time. flash flood concerns are there. even though we haven't had a lot of rain lately. and a low risk of a tornado monday afternoon. one more day of the heat and humidity today. cloudy skies roll back in tonight. few sprinkles in time for your morning commute. by and large, the big show comes through 10:00, 11:00 in

we have a snowstorm in the northern plains, and tropical storm karen in the gulf of mexico.ove the u.s.a. we have a warm night. i wanted to show you i see cooler temperatures coming for next week and i think they will be in here probably in the monday, tuesday timeframe as that frontal boundary comes on through the area. 86 degrees was our high temperature today. chicago, 78. still some warm temperatures as you can see in the middle part of the country. here comes our strong frontal boundary. this front where the cooler temperatures are behind it, are going to pick up the remains of karen and keep it moving up the eastern seaboard and how to sea, bringing beneficial rain in the monday, tuesday timeframe. in the meantime we stay dry and stay warm. it's 72 degrees at this hour. we have 60s else where. so the places that are in the 70s are greatly outnumbered by those areas in the mid and upper 60s. bottom line, not cold tonight. satellite and radar we have a little bit of action across the northern plains. some strong to severe thunderstorms up across the northern plains and i
