it's more than nevada and california, it's to the northern plains. where you see the blue is snow. where you see the pipping is -- pink is freezing rain. it's the dangerous precipitation that can fall, because it comes as rain and freezes on contact to the roads. if it is cold enough. actually, we do now have freezing rain advisories in parts of south dakota - sorry, wyoming as well as into nebraska. dangerous if you are driving. hopefully by tomorrow morning when the sun comes up it will not be a problem, but you can see it - that the rest of the western states are dealing with winter storm warnings. some places are expected to get up to 12 inches of snow. now, tomorrow morning wherever you see this light blue is really into the below freezing point. so anything below 32 degrees is where you seat the light blue. salt lake city, you'll see 67, but go up a little bit in elevation, that is where you are going to see the snow. here across the plains, look at the temperature. north dakota 26, 27. rapid city about 28. we are not done yet, temperatures are going to continue to go down. h

certainly if you are in the northern part of the bay area, such as nevada petaluma, waking up into temperatures in the 40s, and certainly in the south bay as well. we also have a chance of some rain visiting us late on wednesday, but really the real story, it's going to be in the sierra where we have a winter storm advisory. first taking a look at our live doppler radar, clear conditions. no cloud cover just some patchy coastal fog. but really a trough of low pressure bringing in this cool air mass that's going to be visiting us for the next couple of days and as we focus in you can see how that's going to cause some cooler breezes and certainly cooler temperatures. this is what's going to happen in the sierra. we can expect to see 2 to 5 inches of snow. very gusty conditions. 50-mile-per-hour winds. that will last between tomorrow morning and thursday morning for 24 hours. around the bay, our highs going to top out just under 80 degrees. 79 degrees in fairfield and antioch. if you're going to be in the south bay in san jose, 74 degrees will be your high. 72 in san mateo along the peninsula. 68

and napa snow and santa rosa and nevada where visibility cut down to a quarter mile and from south san francisco to stanford and oakland down to fremont and on the northernringes of san jose at this point. again, commuters, what you should know tomorrow morning when you're out on the roadways, plan some extra time because that fog, again, can cut down that visibility very quickly. as we get a look at that thursday forecast overall, once we get over the cloud cover, looks like by 11 xlk a.m., it will start to break, yet again. temperatures on the cooler side. low 60s by the bay and for interior valleys upper 60s. let's bring you outside to the fog storm in san francisco. we actually had to adjust this camera for tonight because the clouds are coming in so thick. so, do expect areas of drizzle across the golden gate, also the bay bridge and at the immediate coastline. down to the south, we did clear out with some sun for several hours. but remains hazy. the dew points in the lower atmosphere remain in the upper 40s to low 50s and that's going to be good enough to set off more ground fog again throughout parts of the south bay and the bay, as we mentioned.

here's the storm, a big one spinning across nevada and utah with rain and mountain snows. this is snow from montana into the northerndown south as i said will be pushed off toward the east and the northeast as we go through the next few days. so today a pretty quiet day. not perfectly blue. we'll have clouds streaming in from time to time. even though the future cast looks clear, i do believe there will be some high level clouds muddying up the sunshine a bit. the army flow is going to bring in some low level moisture along with the higher clouds. now we could have even some patchy fog by tomorrow morning. these showers out in the ohio valley will have a tough time moving east, actually kind of moving southeast falling apart over the mountain. still can't rule out a stray shower, especially wednesday morning. a couple of sunny breaks in the afternoon with highs in the upper 60s to perhaps low 70s with enough sun. now, by wednesday night, thursday morning, the front lifts back to the north. right here a line of showers, maybe isolated thunder through pittsburgh. potentially down in northern virginia but this should p
