it is already raining this morning in pasco county, a little sliver of northern pinellas as well. and i do have a heavy batch of rain which is slowly going to approach the pinellas county coast here over the next hour or so. look at that rain right around 19 from spring hill southward. the hudson area. once that squeezes through, it will lighten up, but then another heavier shower will come in maybe 30, 40 minutes after that. here is heavy rain from new port richey down to -- not quite holiday but soon in a few minutes. a quick little heavy downpour as well. and it was one little tiny shower working its way right over tampa bay, between the howard frankland and the gandy. it is falling apart but you may get a tampa, but a lot of this activity is not going to fall apart and i think people have to understand it is just a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and we need to continue to see the showers develop, move onshore, and really across i-4 and across the state as our saturday moves along. but mild this morning. 7 in west chase. new tampa, sun city center at 76 degrees. mostly cloudy

and even a couple stray showers around tarpon springs and northern pinellas and spotty rain in western pasco. and then down into manatee county, the rain is finally easing up. boy, it's been raining for more than an hour and a half west of 75. in the sky cast, yes, coastal showers. inland area, dry this morning. 77degrees, muggy and 84 at a few more storms pop up at noon. and rain chance goes up to 40% at 4:00 p.m. and a lot like yesterday with the downpours pushing east of 75. and it has to do with the onshore flow. there's 9:00. still seeing the showers closer to the coast. as the day goes on, look at this, 1:00, 2:00, notice the coverage of rain is better and the downpours move east into eastern portions of hillsborough, polk county and highlands county. and then we turn our attention to matthew. and now it's going to continue warm waters of the ware -- of the caribbean. it gets close to east florida. the only reason it's expected to stay away from us is the dip in the jet stream. hopefully it comes together but still yet to be determined for sure. in the meantime, left the forecast

if you're up in northern pinellas county over towards palm harbor up in tarpon your way in next few minutes. and also, we noted a lot of little spins in this in these individual cells as well. so there's that potential that we could see either quick water spout near coastline or a tornado. so this is not kind of weather you want to go venturing out in you can get a tornado forming in this very quickly in the cells are moving extremely fast. so they could move on top of you with very, very little notice. now anywhere you see that shade, that's excess of 2 inches per hour rainfall rates. so that basically coming down just about as hard as it can. these are heavy, heavy tropical downpours. down the coastline, into sarasota, into manatee county, near bradenton, out along the coastline inside cells seeing winds gusting over 30 miles an hour as well. so conditions, they are just going to continue to do down hill as we go through a. noon and evening. you can see very lopsided stopper. the hurricane htes currently flying in the system. level winds between about 60 to 75 miles an hour. so the system

heavy rain throughout the northern portion of pinellas county, southeastern portions of hillsborough county at this point. and i know what you want to know is what is going to happen through the day? well, hermine is going to move north. and we are going to wrap the moisture around. this is just one idea of what could happen but this is a good trend of what i expect. through 7:30, there will be pockets of rain. not everybody and pockets of rain. and that will continue to wrap through the area. again, as hermine moves north and east. this feeder band, this rain band will wrap through. so we could see pockets of rain, not raining on you necessarily all day through about 3:00 and 4:00. and notice by 6:00, a lot less rain around. we will start drawing the rain chances down. and we will start drawing the wind speeds down as well. later this afternoon, after 3 :00, 4:00. that's 3 inches of rain a possibility. anywhere you see blue, that's another inch of rain. and of course, rain chances will be going down to 30%, thank goodness. i know a lot looking forward to the labor day weekend. we wi

can see rain and storms down by the mouth of tampa bay and then rain developing in northern hillsborough and pinellas and some by dade city. can you tell there's a storm on the map. the rain direction is kind of flowing and rotating around the center of julia up by jacksonville dade city and then inland and polk county not too much. rain by fort myers. again tonight a continuation of showers and storms and rain up by orlando and nothing heavy here and circulation with julia is in jacksonville or near jacksonville and sustained wind at 25 and gusting over tropical storm force. you can see the northeast wind in jacksonville and southwest wind in tampa and south wind at daytona and it is a broad circulation. up here temperatures holdi big time of year this time of day and put on the tropical storm symbol and it will move north and northwest into georgia and probably weaken. it has to over land. it will stay in the soupy tropical air mass and of note we have ian in the atlantic. that will head up to greenland and iceland and not concerned about that. typhoon meranti reaching peak of intensity in taiwan w

we do have some clearer conditions finally through most of pinellas, hillsborough, and northern portions of polk county. the heaviest rain that came through pinellas, hillsborough, and folk county is in sarasota, highlands and desoto and pu this is tropical downpours. huge rain drops. 2 inches of rain fallen already. i do expect to see places that come up with 3 inches of rainfall today. it won't be widespread but there will be areas. that's 2 inches of rainfall that's fallen since midnight. the rain gauges on our cameras reset every night at midnight. the wind speeds have come down already but it's still quite gusty out there. we have 10 that 15 miles per strongest winds now along the coast, 25 to 35 miles per hour sustain and gusting to 30, 35 miles per hour winds as hermine leaves georgia, heads through the coastal areas of south carolina, still able to pull in moisture off the atlantic. it stays a tropical storm through tomorrow, through tomorrow morning. if you did have travel plans to head up to the northeast, look at this. sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, the thing is sitting.

if you want something to complain about right now it's not the rain across pinellas in the northern counties we have hit or miss showers. even storms across citrus county. across polk county, south of i- 4, we have heavier downpours. and it is hit or miss in the southern counties as well. here is the next couple of hours. through 7:00, 8:00, it's still hit or miss. normally what we have been seeing -- i shouldn't say normally. what we have been seeing lately is by 8:00, 9:00, we start to see it tapering off. on shore flow. and right now, the model is showing by midnight, we will start to see rain setting up. and tomorrow morning, right around 8:00 in the morning, we're still seeing that on- shore flow. and the models have been adjusting. they're still, you know -- this is all still coming together. but the bottom line is we will have greater chances for rain right along the coast and through the i-75 corridor through the morning drive. and then it becomes more widespread through the afternoon. as that moisture and the heat builds from the day. and u pretty hit or miss across most of the area

breaking now because we have a severe thunderstorm warning that is in parts of northern hillsborough county also into pinellas county and pasco county. anywhere from keystone, odessa east lake area of palm harbor into the new newport richard -- new port richey area into stationary it has a potential of 60 mile-per-hour winds and also some hail. you can see heavy downpours in this area. andean this is nearly stationary so this warning is >>> all right. we do have a severe thunderstorm warning right now for parts of pinellas county, hillsborough and pasco counties. you can see this orange box, severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:15 because the storm is nearly stationary. spinning in the same spot. i'll put the radar into play and you can see the heaviest rain from keystone and then moving north across the veterans expressway. also northdale is in the warning area but at this point you may not even be seeing any rain. because this is nearly stationary just sitting in this spot that northdale could end up getting gusty winds and eventually some of that heavy rain. again if you're in this area until 5:15

so initially when this line moves through pinellas county which it's doing now, that version of the northern spots, there you'll see it offshore. pretty good line. that's moving just off of the area. the stronger thunderstorms are further south, though. moving north at 45 miles per hour. this area of storms. within the line itself, some stronger wind gusts. just palm harbor in st. pete beach and then manatee county. west of manatee, bradenton and sarasota county, too. the tropical storm warning in place. part of the reason why they have these warnings in place are the strong wind gusts you can get inside the line. category 1 hurricane in the gulf of mexico. onshore flow carrying these rain bands that spiral off the center. there's one, two, perhaps a third developing. these can be very violent. some dry air coming in to the western side. that can tend to take a little bit of energy, moisture out of the storm. but there's energy wrapped up already in this thing. that dry air will be pulled around into these rain bands. probably around midnight. about 100 miles offshore. there's the water vapo

it's coming onshore in hernando, pasco and the northern portion of pinellas county. but the heaviest around weeki going to the south, basically you might see a stray shower or two along the coast of pasco and even down into the tarpon springs area of pinellas county but just a little bit inland, clear skies. this is the lack club from lakewood ranch. the stalled cold front to the north is creating the onshore flow. it keeps coastal showers in the forecast for the first few hours of the day. and as the day goes on, the rain moves farther and farther inland. and making it tall way over toward 40% rain chance today with a high of 90. 30% chance wednesday and thursday, leslee. >>> all right. a look at the roadways, moving across the water, you have slow traffic on the howard frankland bridge. how long is it going to take to move into tampa? about 12 minutes. 13 on the courtney campbell causeway. that is longer of a drive in general. all right, again, here's the howard frankland bridge. this is 75 southbound, very heavy. and we had an earlier crash at fowler avenue. it's

northern polk county at this point. not a lot of heavy rain thank goodness but pockets of moderate rain. and now back into the pinellas and hillsborough area. here's clearwater. here's where jamel was. a brief break from the rain. just moved into the largo area, over the bay bridge here. and there's westchase. i just heard from someone in the westchase area on twitter and they said they were getting hammered by lightning and i can see the strikes there. and this is going manatee and sarasota counties, you haven't seen as much rain this morning. and now it's headed your way. and lightning strikes. the wind speeds about 30 minutes even an hour ago, much stronger then than they are now. anywhere from 15 to 20 miles per hour sustained, gusting up to 30 miles per hour. but i saw wind gusts up to 50 forward in time, this is one computer model. not going to be perfect but a general idea of what to expect. again, with this rain band that's going to whip around tropical storm hermine. still going to draw in that tropical moisture. look at lunchtime, it won't be raining everywhere. but if you get under one of the rain bands, it

northern spots. certainly, the rain chances could drop a little bit. there is your forecast at 7:00 a.m. 87 largo, seminole, pinellas park. 86 in upper 80s inland. 82 weeki wachee. crystal river, 81. feels like numbers 100 degrees. look at sebring there. over 100 degrees hawaii is the temperature and the humidity rough average. it is is a value combined. drier air remains aloft just to the north. this is some of the drier air building into the western side of julia. and that is helping to keep a lot of the activity off the eastern side of it. of rain. the winds are spinning away with the system. and the rain continues to come occasionally in squall like weather. a lot of the heavier thunderstorms are well off to the east ever this system. meanwhile, the dry air, you can see the difference here across the northern part of the state. sort of shuts it down. front like, you can see the showers that have popped up across central and south florida. not super widespread. look at the forecast track for this thing. really doesn't go anywhere. and, it certainly won't affect the tampa part in the low pressure area off the east
