for those who don't follow all the ins and outs of northern virginia, we are blessed in northern virginia and virginia overall with actually a rather low unemployment rate. statewide, our unemployment is about 7% and in northern virginia, our numbers are even much, much lower than that. as i mentioned, as we put together this jobs fair, not unlike, i'm sure, what the chair has done or other senators have done, we were well represented with over 30 federal agencies from t.s.a. to the peace corps to the fish and wildlife service. we put out the word, not knowing exactly what kind of response we'd get. this is my first jobs fair i've hosted as a u.s. senator. and at first we were a little worried last week -- last wednesday, we had only had about 75 rsvp's for this jobs fair on this college campus south of washington. but by friday night, we'd had nearly 3,000 folks sign up. by yesterday afternoon, we realized, oh, my gosh, our numbers were topping out above 5,000. we were warning people that perhaps all the accommodations we put in place weren't ready to handle this many folks and we extend

here's a look at our radar from maryland down through northern virginia. light rain showers, but there have been some spots like dave baker in west virginia, he's got an inch on the ground right now with his deer in the backyard. it's been snowing steadily there. and then spotswest, the central shenandoah valley. light accumulation already of snowfall. open it up, you'll see the white. that's the snow. west virginia, too, some of the high spots will see more accumulation. so this is a system that's down south off the coast of really georgia, eastern georgia right now. it's not going to make much progress up the coast. we'll monitor that closely. it's moving more east-northeastward off the coast. nonetheless, we'll go from light rain to light snow. a little bit of sleet mixing in overnight. a half inch in some of the grassy areas. wet roads and then that system mov moves out. light rain for the evening here with temperatures dropping from the low 40s to the mid-30s. by tomorrow morning, i think just some wet roads around. so this will be a system really a lo
