one said it was the pride of northern virginia. they very much earned their reputation and that's remembered to this day. some of you have heard me talk about the texas brigade before but if you don't know much about the unit, the core regiments are the first, fourth and fifth texas infantry regiments. at the beginning of the war they are organized into a brigade in the spring of 1862. also in the brigade, 18th georgia as well as eight companies of wade, hampton, south carolina legion. the georgians and the south carolinians will leave the unit after the battle of antigua and transferred in will be the third arkansas infantry. if you're going with me on the tour tomorrow, we'll be look ing at the first, fourth, fifth texan and the third arkansas as part of the texas brigade and we'll be focused more on the fight that fourth and fifth texas had. the first texas is a slightly different regiment within this brigade. these are the guys who volunteered as early as they possibly could. they actually left texas and headed to virginia befo
