very pleased to see the reaction, just as my colleague in kansas has seen, the volunteers in northern virginiae red cross volunteers who have been out day after day, the first responders who did a difficult job in the middle of the night in fishery ied temperatures -- frigid in an icy rivers. i see people coming together as we often do in times of tragedy, and that is heartening, if you can take anything hashtaging from a swigs -- anything heartening from a situation so drastic. i strongly support the resolution and i support with my colleagues the notion that we have to learn from this. the national transportation safety board is doing a study. their study will make recomme recommendations about how we can reduce the chance this will ever happen again. thank goodness air accidents of this kind are not common in the country, and yet this tragedy has to energize us to learn the lessons of it and make improvements so that we reduce the chance this will ever happen again. and i am very devoted in the memory of those who lost their lives to that mission. and with that, i yield the floor. thank you

its way into the virginias and carolinas, we have heavy showers and thunderstorms down through the gulf. now, this system is going to be moving pretty quickly bringing heavy snow to northern north carolina and the delmarva peninsula, parts of virginia as well. icing conditions as you make your way into the carolinas. that moves off and then tomorrow we're looking at lake-effect snow and we may even see some light snow here in the northeast and coastal new england, maybe a coating at best, but down here right around norfolk, that's going to be the big jackpot. 6 to 10 inches of snow, ocean city maryland, 3 to 5 inches, 1 to 2 in raleigigh. we are looking at icing conditions, kingston, north carolina, we're looking at heavy icing there. and as this winter storm pulls off an arctic blast coming in between now and friday we could be looking at 89 million people from the dakotas down into the gulf under cold watches, cold warnings, and record lows all the way down into new orleans, texas, parts of louisiana. these could be bone chilling temperatures that will be dangerously low right on into friday morning, guys. >> all right. al, thank you. we will ch we will check back in a

virginia. and now, another round of winter weather from the northern plains right through the northeast this weekendthe new jersey department of transport urging people to avoid unnecessary travel. winter storm warnings, through the rockies. it's minnesota where they're 20 inches below snow wise. also the winter storm watch for saturday night from new york city and trenton new jersey up through connecticut and even parts of new hampshire and vermont. we time it out here. saturday morning it will be o claire to green bay with the heaviest snow, 3 to 5 or 7 inch. here it starts to build up with that moisture. the iciness will go through appalachian again, blue ridge mountains. watch for that. look at 11 p.m. it really gets going. you'll see snow in new york and philadelphia for the afternoon of saturday, but it's not until late night that it becomes thick. we're talking from the catsgills to berkshires. we could be seeing 6 to 12 inches when this hit. this is a really active pattern. next week more snow. >> george: okay. >> linsey: significant winter wallop there. okay, ginger. now the regional train

virginia. but i want to point your attention towards what's coming. look upstream, we call that. that is across the northern plains. that cold arctic air mass is going to descend on those very areas that have been hit hard by the recent flooding. and to complicate matters, there is a snowstorm impending across the region as well. looking at the windchill values across the northern plains, you will get frostbite in ten minutes. if you step outside with those types of values below zero. just incredible. the extreme cold alerts they extend from the border of canada all the way to mexico, and they will shift eastward with time as this cold air continues to move eastward. in fact, three out of four americans will experience temperatures below freezing over the next week. and that is a large population of our country that will experience these frigid, frigid temperatures. so here's the other complicating factor the winter storm watches that were in place across kentucky yesterday have now been upgraded to a warning, so it is certain that we will see impactful snowfall from the storm that is moving through the reg
