these pictures sent in by northstar. a lot of happy folks in the sierra. here's good news. we will continue to see some snow at times for our friends up at squaw valley and alpine meadows. we'll keep some snow flurries into tonight, maybe early tomorrow morning. temperatures climbing as we head into sunday and monday. needless to say, probably some of the best skiing conditions we've had so far in quite some time, with some of that fresh powder coming down. overnight, i think we'll manage another two to three inches of snow above 6,000 feet. back to the bay area, mostly cloudy skies in the south bay, as the rain pushes on off. we'll take a closer look at what's going on here. from san jose off to the east, we've got a little bit of light rain. we'll emphasize the little bit as we take a closer look here, east of san jose. we do have some showers around mt. hamilton. what we've got is a lot of cloud cover being forced to rise up over the mountains. providing just enough lift to get us just some light rain at times. you're seeing some of that around morgan hill as the pattern

here's the view from northstar. a lot of happy folks in the sierra. the forecast tonight will keep the snow showers going. this is a view of our squaw valley and alpine meadows forecast heading into tomorrow. highs in the mid-40s. fantastic skiing conditions to wrap up the weekend. then the temperatures are going to climb up a little bit with some less in the way of wind as we head into monday. the system responsible for the sierra snow and rain around the bay area, kind of taking its time leaving during the day. we had mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. zooming you into san francisco, you can see the snow still flying. winter-like conditions, and could see some winter driving chain control type requirements up tonight as the snow flies there. a little more shower activity dropping down from akaioa. we get you into the start of the work week. we'll see a pattern change showing up as we get into sunday and monday. we am see high pressure building back in across the bay area. and this is going to lead to a pattern which at least temporarily today b

up in the sierra, the much needed rain is turning into snow at northstar. the national weather service issued a winter storm warning for the lake tahoe area early this morning. moderate to heavy rains and mountain snow developed overnight. rain and sleet hit the mountains earlier in the day yesterday. then it turned to snow overnight. which is so important for ski resorts. they've been hit hard by the winter drought. some areas could see a foot of snow. other locations above 8 - thousand feet could get up to 2- feet of snow. other good news, resorts in the sierra were expected to get fresh snowfall overnight. the 14-year-old boy accused of killing his sister last week, in the chinatown district of oakland, is now in police custody. he turned himself in yesterday. the oakland policepolice haven't released a motive for the shooting family members say mario shot justice because he was mad that she had bleached his clothes. detectives credit the family for pressuring toliver to turn himself in. toliver is currently in the juvenile detention center charged with
