streets are getting wet here in northwest as this line of showers and a little bit of thunder here andre, although not seeing as much lightning as a little while ago coming through town. let's start with radar, shall we? the wider view, most of the activity right now again through montgomery county into northwesten and over into a portion of fairfax county, these are all moving southeast and we'll give you a tighter look as we switch over to sentinel radar. you'll be able to see this affects portions of close to the colesville area swinging into bethesda, northwest washington over to reston and chantilly. it is rather speedy moving right down 270 and right along the beltway now. wider view shows us a couple more lines out to our north and west that may affect some of the communities along interstate 81. it holds together, maybe you'll get a few more showers especially west overnight as the frontal system, which is what we think this is the leading edge of, almost a dry line separation between less and more humid air that's over us now. that moves through overnight. here is your three d

attorney's office in northwest with details on what they had to say. bruce? >> reporter: yeah, anita and derek, kwame brown spoke so softly inside the courtroom that even the judge had haired time hearing him, but here -- a hard time hearing him, but here in the u.s. attorney's office the prosecutor spoke loud and clear and offered no apologies for bringing these charges. kwame brown suggested outside the u.s. district courthouse that somehow maybe he was singled out that, nobody else had ever been charged with this kind of campaign finance violation and that he stole no city or campaign funds, but the u.s. attorney said that these laws are in place so the voters know whether they can trust their politicians. >> do you think those voters would have elected mr. brown if they had known he had submitted fraudulent bank documents in 2005 and 2007 before the election? this is a man that controlled millions of dollars in the city budget. i think the way to answer that is how would you feel if we left him in office and a greater fraud was perpetrated upon the public

we are coming to the northwest bastion. first of all, notice the revetment, the wood, that is there to strengthen the fort. besides the earth, you have the wood that helps keep it in place. you can see the guns, and they are a variety of guns that you will see. and this is what happened in a lot of forts. it's what guns you could get a hold of. you have everything from field artillery to some bigger guns. the fort itself was supposed to cover the little river turnpike, the orange and alexandria railroad and the leesburg and alexandria pike, but we are on a high point so the guns can fire for a long distance, and they can cover those areas. the original fort that was built for 24 guns, when it was redone in -- finally in 1864, it held 36 guns and with the perimeter of 18 from 540 yards to 818 yards with a bigger fort, and 12 additional guns within the fort. they started building it very early and kept working on it and changing it to the place where it was eventually the fifth largest. you had basically during the war green

out here in northwest d.c., same thing. we're along the 3300 block of siphus in northwest d.c. pepco crews got here a half an hour. they're working on the electricity. i want to direct your attention to the house we see to the right. you can see the bad luck. their own tree came crashing down on top of the roof. a second tree also slammed on top of their cars. now the home is left uninhabitable. up and down this street in northwest d.c., you'll find debris and downed power lines, all remnants left behind by yesterday's microburst of storms. take a look, a large limb snapped off and crushed the rooftop. you can see the trees still embedded up top and the walls of the house are now cracked. and to add insult to injury, another tree on the front sidewalk also came down. that one crushed three cars parked along the curb. neighbors say they're left rattled by what happened here. >> this is the second time we've seen something like this happen on this part of the block. about five years ago the house next to ours where these folks are sitting had a tree that almost by secretaried the

a northwest wind., the northwest winds, they come down the mountains, from high elevations to the north and west. most of these mountains are 2,000 to 3,000 feet. as the winds come down the mountains, they tend to heat up a couple of degrees. even 4, 5, 6, 7 degrees. but they also tend to dry out. when we get a real southerly or southwesterly wind or southeasterly wind, that can heat up up. and that's what we think might happen maybe early next week. to the north of us, still have the showers and storms. because that's the dividing line between cooler air and this warmer air that is coming from the south and southwest. but for the most part, we're looking at really clear skies. just a few clouds hanging across pennsylvania. high pressure going to head off the east coast: that means warm temperatures continue. to the north, sunday afternoon, our front will get close to the region, late in the day sunday. may make it into the philadelphia area. and there could be some showers up that way. extreme northea
