northwest of boulder. louisville had 15. 14 in arvada. and the list goes o. this was a big dumper for snow. with the cold temperatures, it's gonna stick around for a while. there's an effort today to get that snow off your street, but the real danger is right under it. >> reporter: right. the small plows they use, i want to show you, they really inches of snow. they don't get down to the pavement, which can create a real icy mess sometimes in the days after the storm. denver had 80 plows out this morning. normally it takes a foot of snow to bring these out, but denver made an exception today. crews do one pass down the center of the road. a 12-hour shift costs about $50,000 in overtime and fuel. denver says they were able to clear the sites during a normal 8-hour shift. >> these plows don't bring the streets to bare pavement. they make the streets more passable, prevent deep rutting and is help eem navigate residential streets more easily. >> reporter: aurora, lakewood, and fort collins are also plowing their residential roads. lakewood tells me it costs them a minimum of $75,000 to clear t
