delia goncalves is live in northwest washington with the story.rning, delia. >> reporter: good morning, andrea. we're live at 14th and colorado. this is the end of the line for the 52 and 54 buses. those are the routeses that are affected by this viral meningitis. metro tells us the driver was diagnosed with viral meningitis after his friday morning shift. before that he was on vacation so they don't believe that any other buses were affected. metro quickly sent the driver home and spent the overnight hours disinfecting not only the 52 and 54. all 164 buses in the north west garage here on 14th street. doctors are telling us viral meningitis far less serious than bacterial meningitis. it only affects infants and people with compromised inhuman systems -- immune systems. >> it can generally cause fever, headaches, confusion, sometimes light sensitivity. >> it's contagious just like the flu is or the cold is that if you come into contact with fluids that the patient had, cue potentially get some symptoms. >> reporter: the doctor also tells us those

it happened in the 100 block of o street near florida avenue in northwest washington. one of the victims was just 15 years old. as darcie spencer reports, a woman who lives in the neighborhood says the victims don't cause the trouble but she believes their gambling makes them a potential target. >> how many shots do you think you heard? >> nine or ten shots. >> on this warm, sunny, saturday afternoon, a group of young people were gambling with dice in this courtyard area behind the apartment buildings in the 100 block of q street. that's when a group of men approached, at least one with a gun and opened fire. three victims were shot, one was just 15 years old. >> 10:00 after 3:00, it looks like we had a group of kids here playing craps. we had four suspects that came out in dark clothing. >> this woman says she knows some of the victims, they're neighborhood teens who don't cause trouble but their gambling makes them a potential target. >> people know they're out here gambling, so they fry their hand. >> you think it was probably a robbery? >> probably. >> reporter: ne

he's at the metropolitan police headquarters in northwest washington. bruce? >> reporter: jc, police believe that they caught this guy, caught him just after he attacked a teenager, his fourth victim with a claw hammer to the back of the head. the suspect is 19-year-old michael davis. he is the brother of two pro football players and he allegedly attacked all four of these people from behind without warning and without provocation. the mayor says he appears to be mentally ill. police had blanketed the petworth neighborhood last night after the three earlier attacks. they heard a 19-year-old woman moaning and crying with a severe injury to the back of her head. they say they saw davis hiding in a nearby alley. they chased him and he allegedly threw a black backpack. they caught him and inside the backpack police say they found a bloody claw hammer. the same hammer he may have used to kill a tourist from denver named gary dederichs and critically injured two other people. >> during their pursuit, the officers observed the subject discard the bag he had been carr
