submariner's were dying to read the book and it was c-span which was covering the signing up in connecticut norwichhese submariner's wear their hats and carrying 45 copies of the book and i said something is going on here. sold 400,000 copies of the book and the other part of it that was amazing was the only reason we have the book is because the two young writers had missed their deadline at simon & schuster in the bucket in canceled in the agent tossed it to see if something could be done. so between that and the star report you have to believe that some of these things just don't just happen. you can't really track why they happen but i concluded at the end of that first year this is meant to be because of the things that we were able to do that other people wouldn't and couldn't. we could be flexible. i always had plan ahead and be flexible but if you plan ahead too much you are going to be flexible and we weren't so we had four national dust sellers instead of a deficit in our first year a couple million bucks. i don't want to get too specific that we had tons of money and i didn't have the wo
