eastern north carolina and still portions of cape cod, extreme east maine and nova scotia. the track takes it as a hurricane. 60 hours to strengthen. after that, it will peak and weaken. 85-mile-per-hour hurricane near north carolina 2:00 a.m. friday. it's not too far from now. we have a lot of families on the outer banks down to the wilmington area. it's going to be interesting to see what the emergency managers tell these families if they should go home or ride out the storm there. those decisions will be made this morning. then the storm on friday parallels the coast and heads out to sea. areas like d.c., philly and connecticut little if any impact friday night. all the fireworks plans should be fine. breezy, but no rain to deal with. here is the uncertainty with the forecast model. a lot track it over eastern north carolina and avoid areas of new england. thomas, again, the worst effects, if we going to see the pictures, get damage from waves and wind, it will come about 10:00 p.m. thursday from wilmington to cape hatteras. >> from ocean city, maryland to connecticut, t

it is expected to pass over nova scoshia. it's time for a check on the forecast. >>> we are going to check out arthur, it's been downgraded but it's putting down a lot of main fall and wind are down to 70 miles per hour, and continues to move to the north-east, swiftly, but not as fast as yesterday. yesterday it moved or 30 miles per hour. and it's come down to 20 miles per hour. i want to show you video out of main, taking a look at the battering rain. still getting in the water - although vuzed not to do it. high surf advisories remain. waves 5-8 feet. not a good idea, each as conditions improved, to get in the water. still dangerous beach conditions. there's a number of advisories in place, including threats and warnings and tropical storm warnings, especially as you get further out into the water. high pressure builds in as arthur pulls away. winds gusting 30-50 miles per hour, especially along the coastline. you want to keep that in mind. of course, you are not only watching the currents across the new england coastline,

it will head up towards nova scotia and become subtropical or tropical storm or depression. still dangerous rip currents but should get there as we move through the day on saturday and then, again, just downgrade to a low and then move away from frustrates. peak wind gust as cross the area we have 35 miles an hour with arthur moving off shore in dover, wildwood hit 35 miles an hour as well, we had wind gusts to 32 miles an hour at philadelphia airport and in the upper zero's in wilmington and in trenton. but even as arthur departs the the impacts will continue into the the start of the weekend. high surf advisory in east affect through tonight, but as you can see a dangerous rip currents will continue through the weekend. waves four to 8 feet. look at that ocean the water temperature, 59 degrees, earlier to daze and yesterday, ocean water temperatures were in the 07's but arthur came through and churned up that water. we had water upwelling as that storm came through and stirred everything up out there. ocean water much, much colder now. probably good thing it may keep some

beyond that, nova scotia and newfoundland. the forecast is in agreement and we are looking at a landfalling hurricane along the outer banks. the preparations are under way. there are tropical storm warnings and hurricane arngs. the orange here, tropical storm warnings south of myrtle beach up through wilmington. but beaufort, you're being looking at hurricane warnings and mandatory evacuations for many places are in place. hatteras is not allowing anyone in or out there. highway 12 is a major concern in terms of wash-over. here's a look at the rainfall we can expect with arthur. in general, 1 to 2 inches as we head up north towards norfolk. there at the outer banks, 3 to 5 inches and certainly coastal flooding will also be an issue, particularly once the storm passes north of hatteras. the winds are going to shift in direction and they are going to become more normally atherly an looking looking a potential of flooding there. 2 to 3 inches of rain as we head into wilmington and myrtle as well. the good news is that after tomor
