up and you see there he starts running into oncoming traffic on broad street there. time went by, and he was standing over on the other side behind the ambulance out of our sight. when he merged again, i witnessed him push an innocent man down on the ground and you see the video there. he started brutally beating this man >> for no reason >> no reason at all. a couple people jump out. that's one of the emergency responders and the ambulance and a photographer from nbc 10 jumps out kristen and they're trying to distract him. then you see a man in a gray suit standing there, liens down, he pulls that helpless victim away from the seemingly drugged man, he and another guy, and then they try to use those barricades, they had been up for the murmer's parade, they left them up because they were going to have a lot of police presence, so the man still things theses he's beating this guy, they sort of rearranged the barricades to trap him inside, they held him down and flagged down a police officer with a completely different agency who were there to be able to arrest him eventually. so i put this on twitter, and a woman tweeted me back. she happens to watch good day, and she morning after losing a hero yesterday. his name lieutenant matthew latourneau. his station got the call of a burning home in north philadelphia, they ran inside, he did not walk out of that house, because he was trapped inside for 30 minutes after a collapse. doctors tried to save him but he died at there was hospital. jenny joyce is live from engine 45 this morning with the latest. hi, jenny. >> reporter: good morning, lauren. it's a somber morning here at engine 45. it is throughout the entire city. learning that a firefighter from this engine company died yesterday while battling a fire here in north philadelphia, mat latourneau an 11 year veteran of the philadelphia fire department. before that he was an emt in springfield, delaware county, latourneau died from injuries he suffered while trapped inside of a burning building on the 2200 block of north colorado street, adam teal said it took his fellow firefighters about 30 minutes to pull him from the debris, latourneau was rushed to temple where he was pronounced after 11:00 a.m. yesterday firefighters from all overtime city stopped by the hospital to pay their respects. >> our hearts are broken, he's one of the best if not the best we've had in the city of philadelphia. he knew his job. but inside and out. and it's sad this has happened and we will be there for his fellow firefighters and for matt's family. >>> in addition to firefighter latourneau, a person who lived inside the burning home was killed. officials have not released much information on that fire victim. they did talk about the challenges of frozen hydrants and ladders slippery ground conditions in this weather and we've covered several deadly fires in recent weeks as people are desperate to keep homes warm as space and kerosene heaters
