trump then huddles with senate leaders at the nrsc. the nrsc is the campaign arm for republicans in the senate and that included the majority leader mitch mcconnell, the conference chair rob portman facing a tough re-election battle in ohio and several others, and we should note that one of the senators in that meeting, orrin hatch, the senate's most senior member, just put out a statement endorsing donald trump. trump also threw in a meeting with jones day, the law firm that represents his campaign, so it was a wild and high-stakes few hours. here's how we followed the trump motorcade throughout the day starting at 9:00 a.m. eastern time. that was the first meeting between trump, ryan and priebus. that lasted roughly an hour at rnc headquarters. you can see that on the map there. it was a doubleheader there actually. priebus left and then trump was joined by house republican leaders at the same location. that second meeting lasting approximately 40 minutes this morning, and then when that was done trump crossed to the other side of th

i think we just saw donald trump's motorcade just came over here to the nrsc. this is the building where republicans are tasked with fund raising and also trying to come up with a strategy for them to keep the senate. donald trump, this is something that a lot of folks have speculated might be troublesome especially for republicans that represent blue or purple states, kelly ayotte in new hampshire, some folks speculate john mccain in arizona could have a tough go of it because of the latino turnout against donald trump. he'll have meetings with officials as well as the senate republican leadership. mitch mcconnell comes to mind. he also will have john cornyn and roy blunt. the interesting difference though, tamron, unlike paul ryan who has been slow to warm up and embrace donald trump, mitch mcconnell said after ted cruz dropped out that he was willing to support the nominee and willing to support trump. a little bit more of a unified front on the senate republican side than we know on the house side. we'll hear from paul ryan around 11:30. that's the latest f

all in with trump saying it's time to unify behind him and the same goes for roger wicker and the nrsc and the members in charge of electing republicans saying let's fall in line, let's go. the one thing about that is that donald trump is so unpredictable. that's the word i hear from these members, so if they embrace him now in may, they really have no other choice, but what happens if something as bombastic as another ban on all muslims coming into the u.s. comes out. what if you have the language like all mexicans coming across the border are rapists. those are right now things on the back burner. we're past that. we're going to smooth out those rough edges that he is as a candidate right now and he said there's an el man of surprise with donald trump. while they embrace him now, perhaps pay for that in the future, but i do think it's telling that ryan is still not going all in. i read that as one thing. keeping hisself clean for 2020. he doesn't want to get too close or at least wants to have a little bit of a buffer zone if he wants to go big in 2020. >> keeping -- he is in the mid

the purpose of the meeting that trump had today, i think was to try to calm the nerves of the nrsc officials as well as some of the gop leaderships. craig, there are a lot of republicans who are up for reelection representing blue or purple states. one senator who was at this meeting today is rob horton and he's facing the important battle in ohio. i am sure his electoral strategy was discussing between the trump campaign. mitch mcconnel spoke with supporters here. they discussed a variety of issues and it was constructive. mcconnell is a chest player, he's going to look at the map and see where donald trump can out or can hurt. but, trump is such a wild card and you have to assume if mcconnell would want some assurance with trump, okay, should we be worried of something else coming around. where are we at risk of getting upset, is there some speculations? so i think moving forward, the two things the look at, number one paul ryan continuing ef ll evolution. what does it mean for the electoral prospect and do they decide, hey, donald trump brought in all these voters, we'll keep our distance
