the ntsb arriving minutes ago. we'll take you there, live. a surprising move by north korea. launching what officials are calling several projectiles. reaction from the u.s. and south korea. let's begin in illinois where the search has been suspended for two people missing after the explosion in a silicone plant. brynn gingras is following the story for us. brynn, what do you know? >>reporter: that happened at a silicone manufacturing plant called ab specialty silicone 40 miles north of chicago. when it happened at night, we know from authorities nine people were inside the plant and the explosion, as you are seeing from the video rocked that area. it could be felt in towns away. it impacted five buildings around it. there was smoke. you can see it leveled the entire building there. at this point, like i said, nine employees were in the plant at the time of that explosion last night. authorities say four went to the hospital and then there was a search for three others. authorities tell us that one body has been recovered. they cannot look for those other two people that are

the ntsb is heading to alaska today to investigate a deadly mid air collision between two sight seeing planes. the accident happened yesterday in ketchikan. the sust coast guard confirmed four people are dead but ten people were taken from the wreckage and taken to the hospital. they were in fair and good condition. the coast guard spent the overnight hours searching for two others still missing. the flying seeing company suspended operations while federal authorities investigate the accidents. princess cruises released a statement saying they are deeply saddened by the news and providing help to the families affected by the crash. >>> president trump says he's going to take further action to help the nation's farmers in the midst of an escalating trade war with china. china yesterday announced increased tariffs on $60 billion in u.s. goods. the move comes after president trump increased tariffs on $200 billion in chinese exports. and anxiety spread across the stock market yesterday amid the trade war fears. the dow plummeted 617 points. s&p 500 lost 69 points. the nasdaq dropped 269 p

the ntsb is looking at multiple factors, first of all, the aircraft. the flight data recorder has been recovered. the cockpit voice recorder has not been recovered because it's submerged under water and it's still unclear when that aircraft will be removed from the waters of the st. john's river. those two pieces are key in telling what happened. they will be looking at some human factors. they'll be investigating the crew and pilots, what were they doing in the past 72 hours and also what were they doing at the time and the environment. we do know there were reports of thunderstorms and lightning n. about two weeks the ntsb is due to release a preliminary report and we should know more at that point in time. the good news here is that the 140 something passengers are safe. the bad news is that the authorities are not saying the pets on board have perished. they are saying none of the crates or kennels are above water. rosa flores, cnn, jacksonville, florida. >>> we are hearing from the passengers who survived that plane crash. >> that's right. one flo

reporter: yeah, we have new information for you from the ntsb.ane which is still in the water right now, and they will be looking into three broad areas the human element, so that's the pilot, his experience , the machine itself, so the plane, systems and maintenance and environmental factors so the weather which was nasty last night, the goring, and air traffic control. but let's recap for you now we know the miami air civilian contract plane had 136 passengers and seven crew on board, a mix of civilian and military personnel. it's not known how far it traveled on the runway before it got in the river. thankfully we only had minor injuries nothing too serious, we're told. our sources believe the plane had a hydraulic or a brake issue that has not been confirmed but we'll be asking the ntsb. earlier this morning i spoke with the base's commanding officer who stressed what a miracle this was. >> it is a miracle. we could be talking about a different story this evening so i think there's a lot to say about the professionalism of the folks that help

according to the ntsb, the flight data recorder has been recovered.rder has not. that's in the tail of the plane and is submerged. the fuel tanks are also submerged with 1200 gallons of fuel. those tanks have to be emptied before it is moved. there was a small leak and they used a containment boom to contain it. the ntsb is looking into the pilot and crew, their histories, their records, trying to retrace what these individuals were doing the 72 hours prior to the incident. they're also looking at environmental factors, the weather. we do know there were thunderstorms and lightning at the time. it's very early in the investigation, but the ntsb says their assessment is this aircraft overran the runway, impacted the low-level seawall and ended up in the shallow waters of the st. john's river. alisyn, we have to keep in mind the big picture, more than 140 passengers and crew are safe. >> that's the best possible outcome for this scenario. >> we're following a lot of news this morning, let's get right to it. >>> the u.s. deploying a carrier strike group
