director nuru, we have worked many years together. some of you already know him from our neighborhood and what he does. what he's done in the neighborhood, he will continue to do at the department of public works. he will make sure that his commitment to the residents and to the public is just the same as he has done with cleaning the neighborhood and keeping our city clean. mohammed is one of the most dedicated, committed civil servants. so i want to thank him for being able to pop in just a little bit. something came up. he had to rush off to take care of an emergency. our next part of the program will be my commissioner. here comes supervisor cohen. i'm going to give her a chance to come in and put her bags down. i would like for the commissioner to come up and talk a little bit about our guest speaker today. i'll just say something briefly. i met him almost two years ago. and he's absolutely one of the most supportive advocates our community could have. he provided for us to have a training program two years ago, c.m. construction

i'd like to introduce from the city of san francisco, mohammed nuru. >> good morning, and thank you for having us out here. i'd like to start by first of all expressing mayor lee's regret for not being able to come here. unfortunately, he got stuck at city hall. but with that said, we are very, very happy to be here for this event, and to join our partners. this celebration today marking installation of the 28th piece of the piece of bridge completes the driveway, bringing the rage into san francisco. as we heard from the mayor, it is a very, very important part of the project because it does connect san francisco. as you know, of 100 million people use this bridge in a year to come to san francisco. but the construction of the bridge itself brings a lot of jobs to the bay area and we're very, very happy about that in support of all the work that our president is doing in washington to bring more of projects of this type. this bridge marks a huge improvement to connecting san francisco, and also connecting treasure island, which is the development that will be -- it's a development that

[applause] i also wanted knowledge of our other local hire, deputy director, muhammed nuru. always working for the baby. we are honored to be able to work on this for our community, who is so deserving and has been so patient. we are going to get people to work in the process and we are all going to be very happy here at the ribbon cutting and a little bit over by year. [applause] >> i think you can all see a pattern. this is all about local ownership. thank you for making this happen. i want to acknowledge and invite to the podium the leader of our library commission. no one demonstrates leadership better than jule gomez. [inaudible] no problem. let's get started. i hope you brought your thinking caps because we have thought leaders up here who can answer questions. let's go ahead and begin. thank you. >> hi. i am sarah. i am the chief financial officer with the trance bay joint powers authority. i do want to apologize on behalf of maria caplan, she is our executive director, and she did want to be here, but had some other appointments come up. so i will try to replace her only momentarily. the trance bay transit center program, if you haven't been in the san francisco market area lately is under construction. we are replacing the old transbay terminal with a new bus and rail station, and we will be extending caltrain and high speed rail into the new station. we have completed demolition. those free ways that were referred to that are being torn down in san francisco, we have torn some of those down the old bus ramps, and the transbay terminal itself
