in the compound and i know the rebels believe that gadhafi is in there, but what is latest, steph sn ny? >> well, it is a rumor, and we can expect more and more as they are continuing to look for gadhafi. but it is interesting a gun battle took place in the neighborhood alongside of the gadhafi compound, and the theory is that the officers and the fighters escaped from the compound through a network of tunnels into the neighborhood, and that is where they are hold up, and that is why they thought perhaps gadhafi and his sons might be there as well. there was a heavy gun battle this afternoon between the rebels and loyalists. the almost really the last bastion of real loyalist control is this one neighborhood. there were sporadic gun battles around central triple, and there had been 24 hours of relative peace here, but it flaired up again, and there was a hotel near here where there was a gun battle between both sides and the hotel caught in the middle and a bunch of foreign journalists foundem kros haircr. the city is not stable, and even though the rebels control a majority of it, but

you were quite optimistic when ny were pessimistic because having been through what you'd been through, arguably you started from a worse place. you were in a coma for 36 days. she wasn't. you know, she came round quicker than you did. so you could see possible life at the end of the tunnel, couldn't you? >> yeah. and i think people are kind of surprised. when you see at first what happened -- i've seen this and i've done stories. times about those that were badly injured. now, nobody gets back to 100% of the way they we before. but it goes in some ways better. slower, generally, for everybody, the recovery. but it goes better than you thought. i mean, certainly there she was, you know, shot right in the head. unconscious in the beginning. just really didn't know. but she improved faster than people thought. but i mean, the main point i wanted to say was, that you know, this is a long, long road to recovery but you end up being better every year than you were before. even though there are some comments from certain insurance, escially, you know, this improvement ends after a couple yea

special operations command provides me ny seals or army green berets, army rangers, air force spial tactics, marines, and they come in under special forces. i have a navy commander, army commander, air force, marine, and special forces. they worked in an integrated way. we picked the force with the right skill set that will accomplish the mission. it is a close, warm, and respected relationship. we have been -- the combatant commander has used most of the special forces over the last 10 years. after 10 years of working together, we have grown up together. we know each other. there is a bond between us. it is a very smooth, integrated effort. sometimes, we put u.s. conventional forces under special forces command. sometimes, i will put special forces under conventional forces command. it is whatever works for the unique situation on the ground. due to the initiatives you initiated when your secretary of defense, those have matured to the point where the young officers think this is completely natural, the way we always fight, because for 10 years we have. those 10 years we did in the 90's ha
