let's find out what's going on join me in a fox business exclusive, nyse vice chair john tuttle. john. i love the steinway relisting because if you can't afford the whole piano you can buy a share of it but congratulations on landing that but these ones to land are few and far between. what's going on is it just market conditions fear, why so few ipo's? >> part of it is market conditions and it's helpful to pullback the lens a bit and have a broader perspective on this. in 2019, we had no ipo's in the first quarter due to the government shutdown, liz, you'll remember. in 2020 we had a pandemic. 2021 was a record year, and this year yes, we have seen a slowdown. now that said there is a strong backlog of companies that are gearing up and continue to be prepared to go public and there is a pipeline of companies that are thinking about coming to the public markets, so yes, there has been a pause. some of it driven by market-wide volatility and geopolitical activity as well, but i don't think it's a question of if these companies go public really a question about when. liz: i get it

also with us mike santoli at the nyse david, do you feel the same way today as you did yesterday, that we haven't seen a bottom yet, and what would tell you that we do or have >> i do not -- feel any different, tyler that i think we are certainly in a long-term down trend, and if i could pick the exact bottom, we'd be doing this interview on my yacht instead of my office. >> so what would the signals be that would tell -- would start to tell you that the washout has come what would you be looking for? >> i feel like the hard part about answering that question is that you don't know if it's going to swing to the exact right spot -- value over adjust -- >> all right, david, we're going to try and fix your audio. we're having a little problem, but, mike, let me let you pick up on some of the questions i just asked david, which is what would the classic signals of a market bottom be, number one, and does -- is one of them the notion that bob just hit and that is that in a bear market everything goes down and this is a broad-based selloff today, very broad >> yeah, charlie, i mean, usually

at times today, the nyse was looking at a 90% downside versus upside volue not quite there, but it's still very, very lopsided in terms of the breadth of this sell-off what's been going on all year, and this is really the fed effect, the risk aversion effect the high beta stocks, aggressive, volatile stocks have massively underperformed look at those versus more defensive low volatility stock wh real divergence there. volatility index, i mentioned earlier, still below 28. keep in mind, we got well up into the mid-30s at the early year correction levels that's because it's a friday, it's because we have seen these levels before. the s&p is in this very choppy kind of nerve shredding trading range. we'll see if it continues lower from here, but for now, the vix is saying we have done this already. we have been at 42 and change before in the s&p. >> we are now down 1,000 points on the dow, with moments to go until the close. 1,009. it's been a sell-off all hour long got a little bit of a reprieve and then heading south again every dow stock is lower every s&p 500 sector is lower. we're

mike santoli joins us from the nyse hey, mike. >> market a big picture way kind of laboring a range withinkind of interior. so 4,400 to 4,600, call if, that's where we spent most of the time over the last couple of months the bigger one 48. and inintraday lows around 4,800. i think it's relevant this market has spent very little time below the late january lows which is in the 4,200 range. whether that's a net positive or not deferring that remains to be seen a mix of hot and cold sectors. it's mostly been about the stock weighing on inindexes and a selective mix internally take a look here at the two. year note yield of course right in the focus of ininflation and the fed story. and remember bending the curve, wanting to flatten the curve for covid, everyone is looking to flatten the curve for inflation, and this embeds a lot of fed expectations it was about 2.6 a week ago. yesterday somewhat soft core inflation number took almost a projected hike of quarter point hike out of the anticipated level of tightening that the market is currently pricing in so we'll see if that lasts or this is
