nbc's kelly o'donnell joins me now. kelly, quite honestly, you have a lot of people critical of the media saying this story is salacious but when you look at this new allegation from this adult film star, she is claiming that the congressman offered her some kind of help. the question is was it private pr team or was he referring to congressional aides here? >> reporter: members of congress always have a political operation that runs their campaigns and a separate team that works for the government. and anthony wiener when he announced this news conference yesterday that was so explosive around so humiliating, did he not do that from his official congressional staff. he did that from the friends of anthony wiener, the frequent type of name for a political committee. so pr help, if in fact it was offered, may have been an outsider, not a government employee. that's the kind of question though that really opens the door to a deeper ethics investigation. there's been a call for that, as you know. top democrats have said th
