nbc bay area's kimberly terry is at bishop o'dowd high school in oakland. this pledge has a lot of people upset, including lawmakers. >> reporter: local lawmakers, parents, even some teachers. bishop o'dowd is one of more than 50 schools in the catholic diocese of oakland. the teacher contract was supposed to be signed by today. some administrators at certain schools are allowing teachers extra days to take a closer look at that controversial clause. assembly woman nancy skinner joined parents to voice concern about a particular cause in the teachers contract for 2014. >> what bishop arbor is doing is intolerant, unacceptable, and needs to be reversed. >> reporter: the contract reads, in both the employee's personal and professional life is employee is expected to model and promote behavior in conformity with the teaching of the roman catholic faith. in matters of faith and morals. and to do nothing that tends to bring discredit to the school or to the diocese of oakland. >> as an openly gay man, it smacks of discrimination. it smacks of some of the worst a
