the man i am about to introduce has served as the mayor of oakland. he is the attorney general of california. he can restore trust in government because he knows the full meaning of the word "commitment." he will restore our trust in the future of california. he is the only governor who implemented proposition 13. each and every one of us is what california is all about. tonight, we are blessed to have a man who has led in our great state as its governor. he is unapologetic about his experience as a leader and you will, with every aspect of his great intellect, serve us again without seeking personal glory. let us unite behind the lead to qualified person to be governor of california, attorney general jerry brown. [applause] many people rundown schools but the fact is, that is the engine of job creation. to the engine of skill, imagination and training for the future. we embark tonight on a very difficult and historic mission. we want to take back our state. we want to capture the dream. we want a sense of can't do. people still come to california but not without the hope and determination to do what they did. as your governor, this would be a deep honor. this state has done so many for s -- has done so much for so many. we will go back to sacramento and get moving again. california for all, thank you very much. i've visited the main street businesses across the oakland county, michigan. and i m with the small business owners who cannot get a loan to create jobs. workers who lost their jobs and they now know all too well that when greed and recklessness caused a financial meltdown, this will go through the ente economy. i have spent 22 years in the financialervices industry. we wl make a good return for invests and areholders. there were addicted to high-risk short-term trading oppprtunities. this was little more than the bets and they do not serve as a source of luidity andhey do not create real economic growth. we have to get wall stre awaa from the casino mentality. this is what wall street rerm is ultimately about. the economy will continue to be -- we have to make certain tt we do this in a ceful and the libey of way. under the bush of illustration and the republican congress -- under the bush administration and republican congress, we had issues with thisnd we cannot let this affect the fragile economic recovery that is happening. we have to let the marts create

another one was a big real estate owner in oakland. fourth on the list was this paw family. they lived in a one story, seven bedroom, 1500 square foot house, which was listed at about $300,000 or so. they had given about $100,000 in campaign contributions. anyone who hears that knows there is something fishy going on. luckily, "the wall street journal" -- they told me to get on a plane to san francisco. i rented a car and pulled up at the house at midnight that night. it was kind of spooky because the fog was rolling in and i was in a neighborhood i was not sure of. i did not know exactly where i was. as soon as i saw the house, i knew that there was a problem. either someone was breaking the law or trying to pull a fast one. >> how much money had been given? >> i think it was $120,000 that this family had given. it was to several candidates, but it was at least $100,000 to hillary clinton herself over some period of time. some was going to other candidates. to make a long story short, what i found out is that this family really did not have any money. they were friends and

governor in the 1970's and early 1980's and california, served as the mayor of oakland. so if people talking about wanted a fresh face in california, he is not exactly what position to make an argument about that. host: senator barbara boxer not seriously challenged in her primary yesterday, but on the public -- on the republican side, carly fiorina won that battle against two strong republican challengers. going forward, what do you expect in this race? guest: a lot of money on both sides. barbara boxer did not have much of a primary and that allowed her to spend the past year in effect raising money. storing money in what she expects to be a top dollar campaign by carly fiorina. barbara boxer has had a i think two major fund-raisers in california with president obama who remains very popular there. she has about $9 million start up in her campaign war chest for a race against another successful businesswoman, carly fiorina, who was able to spend a lot of on money. not as much as meg whitman but still at large amount was self funded. fiorina one, as you mentioned, a ver

this model has been extended throughout other schools in new york and is being piloted in boston and oakland as well. low performing schools need to focus their efforts on a few critical problems at any one time in order to make a habit. schools with higher capacity were started schools without a culture that has been friction against the status quo, to take advantage of broader based reform models -- the 99 small schools that new vision helped create, that replaced large failing schools as the chancellor's testimony outlined, inform our conclusions here. the design was carried out in a competitive nature by school teams, vying for limited numbers of the school approvals. and it became our rigorous part of the process, -- a rigorous part of the process, and it helped build capacity across new york city for folks interested in ew school creation. each high school sign-on for a target of 80 percent graduation rate and 92% daily attendance. that target, we believe, helped focus on student data and gave an urgency to the work they were doing. each school received support from a variety of partne
