rob roth tells us about a nonprofit in oakland that's already come through for hundreds of households. >> reporter: this woeft oakland single mother of two boys has been watching her money going out with nothing coming in. for many, it's a new and growing reality in the era of the coronavirus. >> i'm trying to keep calm as much as possible. especially for the kids because i don't want them to panic. >> reporter: she had been working as a bartender in downtown oakland until about three weeks ago. the mandatory shutdowns began. >> we got a message from the owner saying that the club was gonna be closed until further notice. and we were just, like, okay. >> reporter: some financial help arrived hundred. it was a $500 check from a nonprofit organization called the oakland reach. >> it was a huge relief. >> reporter: it is a parent advocacy organization. when the shutdown happen, the group began raising money, with $150,000 so far. the group has sent check out to 300 oakland families with more to come. >> we just know that we can't wait. we can't take our time. >> reporter: leticia young
