the increasing crime in oakland. point in ca, this is a map of the major crimes that happened between friday evening and the afternoon on sunday. three shootings in oakland. four other shootings and assault. compared to last year over the same time period, we've seen a 20% increase in violent crime. 34% increase in robberies. 38% increase in burglaries. increase in 2% in murders, homicides. oakland is without a permanent police chief since the mayor fired armstrong in february. she has been at odds with the police commission. and there's an issue of oakland's 911 system, which was down for 30 hours last month. a large volume of apan ban donned calls. that's when someone dials 911 and hangs up before getting help. the mayor announced money and will address the fund deficit. there's hiring freezes, not enough money to grow public services without taking from programs. and during her state of the city address, at 2:00 this afternoon, behind me at city hall, the mayor could address the reissue of the oakland a's, who are

oakland. ctv's bailey o'carroll live in studio with more on what the mayor said and why some former supporters say her words are not enough. bailey garcia good morning. mayor shengtao acknowledged the challenges facing her administration and the city of oakland, but she expressed expressed optimism that the city can turn things around. but it's been almost ten months since the mayor took office, and oaklanders say they are frustrated at the lack of change, lack of action that they have seen. now oakland has seen a rise in robberies, car jackings and theft. so far this year there have been more than 100 homicides. shootings have also increased in frequency and data shows that there has also been nearly 12,000 stolen cars citywide. and there is no accountability. mayor xiang tao is not doing what she's supposed to do, said her top priorities are tackling the violent crime and the perception of lawlessness in oakland. the mayor says she will hire more police officers, recruit 911 dispatchers and
