it was a marathon oakland city council meeting that went late into the night focused on the occupy protests but this morning we're sit not sure what's going to happen next. we're live outside city hall to tell us about a very emotional council meeting. >> it is. you can see all the tents that still remain. officials estimated about 165 tents now it is in front of city hall. this meeting lasted for hours. a lot of people got up to speak, a lot of opinions but not a single decision. so the question remains, what position will the city take. we still don't know. but to be honest, people we talked to out here this morning don't really care. >> if you have learned anything let it be this, you cannot beat us into submission. you are just hammering on the loose bricks of an old dam. when the flood comes, i hope that you will have find yourself some paddles or gotten out of the way. >>> now people who got up last night, identified themselves as members of the occupy movement and were upset about the handling of the tent city and issues in oakland. several in this meeting acknowledge a small group h

oakland is a beautiful city. ere are other ways we can handle our disputes. >> police in riot gear faced off against what police called a minority of occupy oakland. police say only a couple hundred out of the 7,000 who took part in a peaceful protest caused these problems. police say protestors threw bricks, rocks and molotov cocktails. police retaliated with teargas, bone bags and a hundred people would be arrested. around 4:30 this morning, perhaps 3:00, i spoke to a man who was in a line of people who were sitting directly across from police in riot gear. he seemed john f. kennedy what happened. >> we occupied everything and we won. >> what does that do to the movement? do you think it hurts it? not really. our movement will stay strong. and forever. >> we're disappointed. clearly, we know from the arrests made, from the other night, that the large majority of people who come from outside of the city of oakland, and they're not about the movement and they're not about any kind of message other than disruption.

oakland. a moving protest in the streets. it ends at the one place the city wanted to protect. after being evicted from the plaza, the protesters moved to a fenced-off vacant lot at 19th and telegraph. don knapp has more. >> reporter: they have literally taken over the park there. was nothing here to stop them. let's take a look at helicopter shots as they moved in. the park has been reserved this week, they thought, with signs and fences, and what the police had intended to do was keep them out. however, they walked up to the fences, knocked them down, took over the park and occupied the park. the park as it's set, the mayor said they would not have another encampment. i counted 16 tents on the ground, set up. there is a giant tarp a lot of people are huddling under right now. obviously, this is one of the problems the city will have to face. looks like the encampment has broken through the fences, here now at least for now to stay. here's how it started earlier today at about 2:30. occupy oakland protesters marched from their former camp site at oakland city hall through down
