i know they will serve us well and they will lead our work force as we police the city of oakland. i want to acknowledge our work force out there for our great city. we're a family z we'll stick together during this transition. thank you. >> good afternoon. well, as city administrator says this is not the press conference we thought we're going to have today. i was skad saden asked surprised to hear of the decision this morning. but i tuft he's doing what is best for himself and for his family. i met howard jordan when he was a young lieutenant the city assigned to the oakland public schools help us professionalize our police force. and we needed to have a board professional that, could protect children and keep campuses safe in unsafe neighborhoods. what i learned then, which i have been happy to see is that this is a man that could talk to young people. who would walk the walk. first week that i was there i noticed a tall man wearing a wind breakerment it took me a while to realize it's howard. and it was just knocking on the door like other volunteers. he had had a great career.
