the oakland city council unanimously passed a resolution last night to use $2 million from the oakland coliseum in parking enforcement to keep those firehouses, despite the city's budget deficit. california lawmakers are announcing a $2 billion budget proposal to save the state's public transit system. the proposal comes from senator jesse arreguin from berkeley and assemblymember mark gonzalez from los angeles. it would allocate $2 billion over the next two years to cover shortfalls and finish projects in the bay area. bart is facing a fiscal year 2026 $400 million deficit, which could cut back weekend service and force trains also to run once an hour. the state's budget needs to be approved by june 15th. new at six orinda police are looking for the people who robbed a consignment store over the weekend, stealing jewelry and pepper spraying a worker and customers who got in their way. the smash and grab happened saturday just before noon at hilton house. consign and design on orinda way, right next to the police department. five people entered the store using hammers here to break the display

oakland city council unanimously passing a resolution just last night to use $2 million from the oakland coliseumng enforcement to save those stations. they are expected to reopen in the coming weeks. well, new at 730 tonight, a bay area tech giant is funding a brand new exhibit at the san francisco museum of modern art. the chronicle reports google has given $1.5 million to the museum for a new exhibit on the late san francisco artist ruth asawa. it's the largest corporate grant for a single, for a single, for a moma exhibit from a single donor, for a moma exhibition. asawa is known for many public art pieces in the bay area. the exhibit, titled ruth asawa retrospective. it is set to open on april 5th on the san francisco spca is sponsoring two bills aimed at increasing veterinary care for pets in the state. california is currently experiencing a shortage of vets, making access to care much harder. ab 516 will expand tasks that vet techs and assistants can perform to include anything not clearly prohibited by law. and then there's sb 602, which would allow vet techs to perform simple but importa
