oakland. not far from the colosseum. this is a live picture of the scene. 880 has just reopened. let's bring in alex savidge who's been there monitoring the crash and the results. >> reporter: good morning. the good news here is that the chp has just reopened all lanes of northbound 880 coming up tore the coliseum after this deadly crash that happened around 3:45 am. of what we're being told by the chp this was a car driving on the freeway. the driver who was just leaving the oakland airport struck a person who was walking in the road. the person walking in the road was hit and killed. i want to bring in sergeant coven with an update on the investigation. overlearning anything about why this person was walking on the freeway? >> that is still under investigation right now. the person that was driving the car is safe and they are on their way home at this time. >> tell me about what took place and why it was necessary to shut down all the lanes of the freeway this morning? >> when we responded at the collision occurred, we had to shut down the lanes he because we had chp personnel
