we haven't seen that in the oakland hills just yet. but these winds are likely going to ramp and the fact that they're up on the top of the hills where that fire located. that's we're going to see the stronger gusts moving in. so that's what the big concern is with this fire. now, those winds coming up out of the south. you can see where the fire is located there right near the top of the oakland hills there. and so we're getting the southerly wind that is taking the fire up in this direction. more further to the north. so if it's going to push anywhere, it's going to push in that direction. generally and probably try to run up the hill a little bit. fires tend to run up the hills as they begin to burn. so that's a concern for firefighters. now they're going to have to deal with that. is if this continues to burn, these winds are going to be ramping up this evening. and so there's a lot of homes in and around this area. taking in for a closer look now you can see some of the in and around the fire area. they continue to see that burning

firefighters in the oakland hills are still on the scene of a three alarm house fire that destroyed one home and scorched to others. crews will be there all night monitoring for any flare ups and his ktvu jana katsuyama tells us the fire chief credits the homeowners for taking steps that helped fire crews. a neighbor says he was at home when he heard crackling and then said he went outside and he realized his neighbor's house was on fire. i came out on the deck, and that's when i saw a column of smoke coming out of the house, kevin be crafting his wife, corrine, live around the corner from the house burning on aitken road in the oakland hills. eaves of the roof. next door had caught on fire and there was a dog in that house, so they were trying to rescue the dog. yes so it was kind of crazy. black smoke from the fire was visible miles away . firefighters got the call at 4:17 p.m. and about 50. firefighters rushed to respond, concerned that the fire could spread in the wooded area to nearby homes. fire department was amazing. hendrickson says. his heart goes out to his neighbors who stoo

firefighters in the oakland hills tonight are still on the scene of a three alarm house fire that destroyed one home and scored several others. that fire broke out around 4 15 this afternoon and drivin shepherd canyon jana katsuyama live now for us at the scene with the conditions that firefighters credit with helping avoid further spread, jana. well heather. it's been some six hours now, and fire crews are still here at the scene. we've seen them come over there drawing their hoses because there's still smoke in the air there looking for these hot spots, and they say that they plan to be here all night. just checking to make sure this fire is out. now the oakland fire department is warning residents in the area that you might still smell smoke because they are still making sure that that these areas that have started to flare up again are put down so just to be warm, but you can see the destruction. three homes were dead damaged, one completely destroyed. and a lot of families here tonight are just thankful that no one was injured in this fire. a neighbor says he was at home when he heard

it happened last night in the oakland hills. the suv struck a gas line which sends flames shooting into the air. officials say pg&e cut the gas and they say no other structures were at risk of catching fire once it was contained. no one was hurt. an arrest has been made following a viral video coming out of san jose. it shows a street vendor being attacked. assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking charges. police say he may be assault friday morning. it appears the man was an employee at a nearby business. the video shows the suspect upset he was selling barbecue meats. sanchez declined medical treatment after the attack. the attack is the second assault in less than a week. take a look at this. last thursday, someone assaulted a food vendor. that was caught on camera. the vendor suffered a broken nose and loose teeth. he says the suspect brought several hotdogs and made a demand for a free how doug after buying the once he. there been no arrest. happening will join community leaders for a rally to show support for ron armstr
