but the oakland hills 30, maybe 40 miles an hour. so the good news is, is that we haven't had consistent or sustained wind winds at that speed for a long period of time. but already, though, we're looking at relative humidity really, really low. and it will continue to drop off with those breezy winds throughout the day. so high pressure building into the eastern pacific while a trough passes to the east, allowing for those strong pressure gradients from mount diablo or our vollmer peak camera. you can see how clear it is. so very, very clear out there with all that wind, 55 degrees, san francisco, 61. in oakland, it is 63. in half moon bay. so with all that mixing, it is quite mild out there from the golden gate bridge, you can see no wind here with that bright blue sky. 49 santa rosa, 60 by the delta and concord with 61in napa, 55 in livermore. so with those winds right now, you can see saint helena at 60 miles an hour. so we are expecting these winds to continue to be quite strong in the upper elevations right on through about one

we're getting good news from the area near the oakland hills. that grass fire that threatened several homes in the eastman hills neighborhood of oakland has been contains. the department just sent out these pictures a few minutes ago saying they along with alameda fire crews were they're helping to knock it down. seeded burn good amount of grass. it also jump to the attic of a home in the area. crews on the roof there. this is on outlook avenue near parker avenue. fire crews are still checking the home that had the fire in the attic for hot spots. but again, they think they're in the clear fire contains, by the way, this started just before 4 o'clock this afternoon. and we have some video here from a viewer. you see all the smoke. the oakland fire department says 50 firefighters from 6 engines work to knock it down. the word on any injuries so far we haven't heard of any. fortunately, we also do not know how the fire started. that's right. let's get you a check of your lawrence. i know we're going to heat up later this week as well. which kind o

the oakland hills even after the home owner warned him that she had called the police. the suspect, 27 year old jordan caldwell, has since been arrested and charged in a series of break ins in both alameda and san mateo counties. as governor, newsom signed an education bill into law that will make cursive writing an education requirement for california students. the author of the new law, assemblywoman sharon quirk-silva, hopes that it will allow the next generation to read historical documents. she says a lot of english language history is written in cursive, including personal family history, and that over the last decade, only half of california's students were learning cursive by signing off on the law. newsom is adding another item to teacher's lessons plan lesson plans hoping to get kids reading cursive by the time they reach middle school. who knows? maybe some of the teachers now won't. don't even know how to. it'd be a learning for both. it could be learning for both because a lot of our young teachers are pretty young now. they're like in their 20s, like early

foggy, but there's some fog hanging out in san francisco and then cooling right into the berkeley, oakland hills that we had up in the sierra will that has made its way to the east. you're seeing some spots of blue out there in the mountains of nevada, utah and colorado. but here in the bay area and the rest of the state were coming down as this high pressure ridge builds in. and eventually later this week resulting in an offshore wind. it's going to be a lighter wind, but it is enough that that hot, dry air from our inland areas will be nudged right out to the bay shore and then right out to the this will result in some of the hottest temp so far this year for bayshore in coastal areas towards the end of this week. so it is going to be a warm one for spots like san francisco for now as deaths in the 60's to 70's coastal areas in the 60's while 70's to low 80's for the rest of us today is a warm up from yesterday. yesterday was cool across the board. even inland areas yesterday. we're only in the 70's today. it's going to be the return of some low 80's, though, for spots like concord, walnut cre

oakland hills, 24 miles an hour. mount diablo winds gusting at 55 miles an hour. and these winds expected to strengthen and probably mix down closer to the surface. in fact, one site you can count on that really shows you that northerly wind picking up is out toward fairfield. typically with this pattern right now, they have a gust increasing to 26 miles an hour. and as i mentioned, it's a very dry air mass. so right now we're taking a look at the current relative humidity levels. and fairfield is down at 12. areas up to our north, up toward redding and toward sacramento. those numbers continue to drop as well. so here's the forecast model showing you this. this is 4:00 tomorrow morning. model to strong winds, especially for the bay area hills for the north bay hills, the east bay hills and the santa cruz mountains. and then still sticking around tomorrow morning and then some improvement that should help us out tomorrow afternoon into your sunday night. but once again tonight into tomorrow morning, those winds will continue to strengthen. we'll have more on your

a cool start there in morgan hill. oaklandy sitting at 55 degrees right now and same trend just across the bay bridge into san francisco. so mild pretty much everywhere in the bay. but this is what we're going to be waking up to and heading into this afternoon. clear conditions at the golden gate bridge. so no visibility issues when it comes to your commute coming in from the north bay. heading into this afternoon, more clouds are going to start realing in from offshore. and that will be the trend for us especially as we head into the evening hours tonight. early morning hours tomorrow. we have another band of rain slowly trying to make it way into the bay area. it starts to break apart and dissipate as it goes more to the north bay. if anything light amount of rain, trace amounts adds that trickles through friday night into early saturday morning. saturday morning of course everyone is going to see the partial eclipse with the glasses of course. however, i will say this. we are expecting cloudy skies as it starts to really mo

low 70s from san francisco to oakland and san jose. but morgan hill southward to san martin, close to 80 degrees. a few high clouds at times. we'll start the day partly cloudy skies. again, 6:00, 60s and low 70s. as we approach 9:00, temperatures cooling into the upper 50s and low 60s. so take a jacket with you if you're heading outdoors. no need for the umbrella this year. i don't think you're really going to need an umbrella with that first chance of showers on thursday. notice how this incoming system kind of falls apart as it approaches the north bay. best window of opportunity for showers on thursday, sonoma county northward. late afternoon into the evening. now, it's the saturday weather system that has more moisture to work with. by the time we get into saturday evening, chances are we should see some rain around the bay area. that could take us into very early sunday morning with clearing skies to wrap up the weekend sunday afternoon. so more of this extended summer-like weather. just a little drier than we would like through the middle part o
