it was the obama presidential campaign. it was the voice of america. that i sang those songs, was inspired to make an album. with a "soul ii," what we were most conscious of was not cashing in on the success of "sold i." there had to be a reason that it was commercially successful. it had to be a reason that if he did so well. so we picked songs that were very personal to me, sounds like "wishing on a star," "love tk o." tavis: "teddy bear." you have president obama looking presidential and talking about the economy and more specifically aboutnomy around. on the other hand you have the anti-romney social conservatives in the party making these deals with the social conservatives and litigating the culture wars which they lost. talking about race as goldie points out and talking about religion and talking about marriage. talking about contraception and all of these things which are catnip for the social conservatives. but they are toxic for the rest of the public. while you have the president looking extremely presidential, you have these other candidates trying to get the vote saying these things that may thousand them and hurt them because they are like vampires because they can't with stand more than 15 minutes of sunshine. you lose the independents in the general election and we find out the unsavory background. we know about newt gingrich and it turns out people like rick santorum was effectively a lobbyist. they don't get the social conservative vote either. it's implosion. >> we have seen santorum rising in the polls.
