. >> reporter: that is toby diaz talking about her granddaughter anna ocasio. was sitting in her bedroom when a bullet pierced the side of her home and struck her in the head. leaving investigators to believe ocasio was struck by random gunfire during last night's rainstorm. mrs. diaz says ocasio lives with her mom and dad and they were the ones who called 911 after finding her on the ground in her room. >> i feel so bad for her mother and i. that's a cross to care whenever your child's hurt. >> reporter: ocasio was taken to saint luke's hospital but has been transferred to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania in philadelphia where she remains in serious condition tonight. karen who lives next door says she can't even imagine what the family is going through, a family she describes as very tight knit. >> they're very into family. they're very close. but no, she's not a partyer. she's a good person. it's just worrying to have something like this happen. >> reporter: investigators were back on the scene this morning searching for clues and speaking with
