ocean beach, we don't see too many people out there right now just a few but you have to bundle up headingo the coast. it is cool out there, too. temperatures in the 50s and the low 60s. of course that cool sea breeze blowing, as well. out the door, it's cool at the coast, still very nice in many of the interior spots. mild temperatures clear skies until the interior valleys into the 70s here as we head through the evening hours. inside the bay, mostly clear, although finger fog now shooting through the gate in toward the berkeley hills. temperatures running in the 60s and low 70s. and, of course, out toward the beaches, staying very cool with the low clouds and fog. numbers right now: we have a trough on the west coast that will deepen the marine layer probably to 2200 feet. so that means we'll probably see some drizzle out toward the coastline, too. so plenty of fog on the way for us. and well, it's going it stay cool as we head in toward the morning hours. and even in the afternoon now at the beaches it's going to be cool. all right. as we head through the day tomorrow, the fog and low

socked in, current air temperature right now right around 60 degrees there in ocean beach and the winteruite gusty this evening. as a matter of fact let's take a look at some of the stats in our microclimates. santa clara 73 degrees, full sunshine there. pea tan, please, wind northwest at 14, 70 in napa, around the peninsula low 70, clouds now moving in. if you are heading out to see baseball action, team stuck at home, barry zito on the mound. >> interview: game time temperatures tumbling into the mid-50s, we'll have the clouds gradually march inlapped. we'll lay low all night long, that's what it looks like right now, a blanket. a very deep marine there roughly, about 2400 feet deep. usually this time of the year 1500 feet deep. that cooler air mass alost is riding well inland all the way in towards concord, clayton, walnut creek, keeping those temperatures down by a good 10 to 11 degreesment so it looks like high pressure is a key component. but with that deep marine layer in place we're going to see the rush of that cooler air mass from the coast into our inland areas and, therefore,

up and under the golden gate bridge and it's saturating of the beaches of san francisco around ocean beachs well. this is a deepening marine layer so overnight tonight as we go into the 50s that marine layer will stretch through the bay and again march locally inland a good 60 miles and we will have that condensation in the form of drizzle along the immediate seashore, as well. the big picture does illustrate that all the storms are riding well to the north of the bay area. we are certainly under the influence of high pressure. but the marine layer has been deeper this year than in recent years. and you have that cooler air mass aloft that continues to rush onshore and affect our inland temperatures. so while inland we are still warmer than where we are at the bay or the coast, we are still well below average. should be right around 88 degrees in livermore, instead 83 degrees there. mid-80s in concord through walnut creek backing through alamo. 78 tomorrow in san jose when the average high is 85. we should be at 83 in santa rosa but instead 75. join me on sunday morning for th tour due de

ocean beach we have an influx of the marine layer keeping the temperature between 58 and 60 degrees. so the bottom line is, temperatures are being harnessed by the low clouds and the patchy fog. san francisco dropping to 59 degrees. notice the winds adding a chill to the evening commute. richmond at 63. san ramon due east in the low 80s with a westerly at 11, and saratoga in the mid-70s. out and about tonight, it would be advisable to carry a light jacket. you will probably need it at one point or another if you are near the bay of water with the temperatures between 65 and 70. clouds moving inland over night. we'll all experience overcast conditions and our overnight lows between 49 in pacifica to the mid-50s in fremont, union city, cupertino, campbell, swinging around to alum rock and into the almaden valley of san jose. meanwhile, this is it. this is the story all summer long. it's a very deep marine layer and usually this time of the year it's roughly 1500 feet deep but overnight it's spreading well inland and backs off towards the lunch hour bayside. that's going to allow clouds

just to give you an idea of their size, if any of you are familiar with the great highway out by ocean beach, there's one of these structures that runs under the great highway that's about two miles long, about 40 feet wide and about 40 or 50 feet deep and it can hold 50 million gallons of runoff. i can watch the level gauge on our monitoring stations just creep up when the rains start to get hard. so the amount of water that we handle in a storm is absolutely tremendous. well, what will happen is we have plants and pumps that can pump this large volume of water it a large degree to our treatment plants where we can give it in many cases full secondary treatment. but on very peak storm days, and this is something that the other speakers have brought up and how these intense storms are problematic for us, when we get a big storm we are pumping and treating all we can but we don't have enough capacity to handle all the water. so what will happen is these structures will fill and then they will discharge. we call that a combined sewer discharge into the bay or into the ocean. i want you to take
