two lifeguards near san diego are being called heros for saving a dolphin that got stuck near the oceanside pier yesterday morning. two people jumped into the water, cut the rope he was stuck in and set the dolphin free. he is expected to be okay. it has been a week since bay area birds started showing up covered with a sticky substance, but now it appears the threat may be over. animal rescuers stopped finding contaminated birds, but more than 500 affected birds have been found in the bay area. half of them have died and lab tests under way have indications the goo is not an oil-based product or a synthetic rubber. >> the threat as we know it right now is over. we are not sure what it is. we know what it is not and it opened up the whole periodic table to what it could be. >> investigators hope to learn more by the end of the week. once they find out what the substance is, then they have to try to determine where it is coming from. >>> the time is 4:55. turbo tax software maker intoit is apologizing to customers for forcing many to upgrade to new versions this tax season. this year users o

two lifeguards in oceanside near san diego freed a dolphin that got its fin trapped in a fishing lineis is video shot by another lifeguard. after the mammal swam out, lifeguards say it came back around under the water and looked up at the two men going back and forth a few times, maybe to say thanks for the rescue. the lifeguards say the animal stayed calm the whole time and seemed to know the men were there to help. >> that's nice. >>> actress angela lansbury has charmed audiences for more than seven decades and now you can see her immense talent on display right here in the bay area. she is leading a willtalented cast in "life's spirit" playing at the golden gate theater in san francisco. she plays a medium who hosts a successful seance for a scheming socialite. she played the role in london and on broadway. the 89-year-old actress told us today she gives her all while on stage and that will actually keep her from truly enjoying her visit to san francisco. >> it is a challenge, of course it is, at my time of life. it takes it out of you and i don't do anything else except the show.
