i take the van ness underground and walk the corridor from octavia to van ness almost every day. and a lot of thoughts. going back to what commissioner antonini was talking about i was in europe and my experience is different. from are membership car tree boulevards that are thriving and violates. transit runs through them. you have areas where there's basically preves where the train runs through it. they don't have to have separations and it works peacefully. there's bicycle tracks that go through. those areas are vibrant and interesting. one of the things that's going to be important is looking at design principles we put in place for buildings and ground floor frontages. what frustrates me walking down market street particularly from octavia to van ness is the obscured ground floor locations and i think that enforcement abilityd working with property owners along that corridor to really liven those ground floors will help a lot with eyes on the street and kind of the more feeling of the access to the street. the other thing, in terms of street furniture i think there's much m
