officer to respond. check on their well-being, by definition, that's not a mental health call, but usually, most of the officers who work the streets, so we responded to 26,987 calls in 2018. with a grand total of 50,612. so you can see this is the map, the city and county of san francisco. most of the concentrations for the 5150, so the crisis calls come out of the downtown area, market street, mission. some of the other calls come from residential areas, like taraval district, richmond district, and ingleside district. but as you can see, the majority of the calls would come from the downtown area. the use of force, so out of all those calls, 50,612 calls, 113 resulted in the use of force out of 50,612 calls, only 113 were where officers used force. we had 61 uses of force in the mental health detention. we had 39 mental disturbed person and 14 suicidal persons, added to 113 persons. there were 55 physical control, meaning the officers had to put their hands on the subject to calm him down or handcuff

we had 33 officers within the six-month period and one officer with four d.p.a. complaints in a one-year period and 64 officers within 12 months. we had a total of 123 members with at least one alert. over on the next page, this is the intervention and we currently have five officers on intervention. two are for failing to appear in court and they are currently being mentored and ensure they do respond to court. three are in intervention and we have use of force training and we have mentoring and post certified tactical communication training course. turning to page five, e.i.s. alerts by quarter. so we can see for 2019 we have 173 in the middle of the page with a chart and from the chart we can see the breakdown for the quarter reporting and first quarter of 2018, we had 216. second quarter, 200. and third quarter, 222. fourth quarter, 193. and we are currently at 173. we are seeing a downward trend in e.i.s. alerts. on the next page for e.i.s. alerts by station and 164 total e.i.s. alerts and mission station number one with 38 e.i.s. alerts and terraville with

but it is because police officers and probation officers are really associated with the juvenile justice system, with a justice system, and i think that what we're looking at is at the school district, we've invested a lot in counselors, we've invested a lot in wellness centers, we've invested a lot in i think a lot of these types of support around especially for our lgbtq use also which we find through our studies also are three times, four times more likely to have depression and be suicidal. these issues that come out around that middle school age, it is a very odd age. they come in 4'2", they leave 5'2". if any of you have had middle schoolers, you know the transformation is tremendous. and so i don't believe that probation officers should be in middle schools. i think it might have worked at one time or maybe in a different area, but i think in san francisco what we're looking at is more of a holistic way of looking at it. with san francisco kids, the problems and challenges that they have, it's sometimes not one simple issue, it's many complex issues that even we don't have control
