and you can tell that this is an area that is offlimits to skateboarders. this morning, less than an hour ago, they cut the lock to allow themselves to go inside and they're probably about 50 skateboarders here to protest the planned closure by caltran. take a look inside the skateboard park. we shot this video earlier. we have several dozen people there with signs and skateboarding. and they were here because they were under the impression that caltran was going to bulldoze the skate park starting at 8:00 this morning. this park has been here for several years, six or seven years. and for the last six years it's been under lease by the city of oakland to allow the skateboarders to skate here. but the city of oakland did not renew the lice and now caltran said that the skateboarders are trespassing and it is a liability. and last week caltran bulldozed another skateboard park that was illegal called waste land. so they are here and they say that they're going to lay in the bowl of the skateboard park if they need be in order to keep caltran from doing this.
