the trolley system has been knocked offline.utbound flights have been grounded. california's independent system operator, which oversees the power grid, says that the problem started when the high-voltage lines that connect arizona and california, the main source of power for much of southern california, they were knocked offline at about 3:45 thursday afternoon. and we're now told by officials in arizona that one arizona power service employee was doing repairs at the north gila substation northeast of yuma, and that apparently knocked off the power. it should have been localized in yuma, however, system protocols were apparently not followed, and that meant it spread like wildfire across southern california. san diego gas and electric company officials say they are working to restore power. they even already managed to restore power to some of their customers. they say it could last well into friday and we're in the middle of a heat wave in southern california. that means a lot of folks not only missed the football game, they'
