the worst is over the ohio river valley. but still expecting heavy downs across michigan, on the backside of this, still picking up some strong storms. but we'll be back in just about 40 minutes and update you on what is happening now. back to you. >> karen, humor me here for just a second. it's mid november. is this pretty late in the year? isn't this late in the year for tornados? what triggered today's storms? >> the primary time for tornados, as we well know, is springtime. then we see a second high that comes in the fall. is this late? it is rather late because the temperatures have been very warm. st. louis today was 80 degrees. that was a record. they are going to be in the 50s for tomorrow. very vigorous area of low pressure is moving across the great lakes. on the backside of that, temperatures are dramatically cooler. so that cold air is filtering in behind it. warm air out ahead of it. and we get some twisting motion in the atmosphere. and that's why we see this tornadic activity tonight. >> all right. that is an

we have this feature that's pushing into the ohio river valley associated with the cold front.hat's moving in to our neighborhood but not until about thursday morning. and it will get out very quickly so that's the good news. high pressure is in control of the weather. we'll see a quarter of an inch of rainfall from the system. clearing by about lunchtime on thursday and we start to bring high pressure back to the picture and then, of course, much cooler air. how cold will we get and when will it arrive. we'll see the cooler temperatures thursday night and in particular friday morning and friday afternoon. we'll see lows in the mid-zeros and highs in the lower 50s. winds out of the south 10 to 15 knots. here's what to expect for the rest of today. 64degrees and a mix of sun and clouds as we head into the overnight hour. 53 and clouds thickening with patchy fog out there. and then the rain moving in during the early hours. the morning commute is what we're talking about. a high of 61 degrees. >> chelsea, thank you. >>> and still to come, eyewitness news at noon, childhood music

moving across the ohio river valley, they are causing wind taj and tornado -- damage and tornado damage for some people. these red boxes are tornado watch boxes and are in effect across areas, such as southern illinois, which saw a tornado. this is the damage we have seen with the storm. you can see the yellow dots indicating the wind. some red dots are here in illinois. that is a couple of tornados that have been reported and hail damage. this will continue for the rest of the evening the the watches are out. this is what we are looking at. the red boxes are indications of tornado watch boxes. this will be a big problem if you are out and about you need to listen to the radio. the tornados will be diff to see. in the evening, ahead of the system we are dealing with wind. it's coming behind the area of low pressure as well as parts of michigan. we'll keep you updated through the rest of the evening, what happens with the storm and for new england the storm system will push through. we'll see a lot of wind, gusting up to 60. it will cause a lot of problems at the airport. >> we'll see yo

thursday we saw a lot of flooding in texas and severe whether across the mississippi valley, and ohio river valley. on friday this is what it looks like. all the weather will make its way to the east coast. rain from new york to georgia will be a problem. by the time we get to friday afternoon and saturday morning things will have cleared out. i want to take you to the north-west. we are seeing showers pushing through, but light at times, unfortunately for seattle we'll see deterioration of weather. as you go towards saturday rain will come into play. temperatures of 51, a break in the weather on monday. it comes back on tuesday. down here towards the south-west things are looking nice. we have snow up here towards the higher elevations in colorado, utah and idaho. and even into wyoming. the ski areas are enjoying that. that is packing their base for the start of the season. as we go down towards los angeles, temperatures will fluk ute down to 76. things are nice all the way through the beginning of next week. now, i did tell you about the flooding we saw across texas. the rain has finally moved o

and look, you can already see some of the snow moving across the ohio river valley.t a big event compared to what we're going to see in the next 24 to 48 hours. tracking it for you as we head further out in time as we move across the southeast. that's where we could see the potential of severe weather. then into tuesday, 2:00 p.m., that's when we really start to see this thing getting its act together across the mid-atlantic. the edge of the snow moving in towards the northeast. but it's really the backside of the storm that's going to bring the gusty winds. even though a rain event all along the i-95 corridor, wind gusts in excess of 40 miles an hour. that's going to delay flights or ground them. all up and down the i-95 corridor. all of the big cities from d.c. to boston. and the snow, we could get in excess of 12 inches i across the interior northeast. mainly a rain event, but wear going to see flash flood watches and warnings. so that's going to cause some problems on the roadways. mesne mainly a snow event as we head up to the northeast. it's going to affect mil
