. >>> so publisher of the oil price information service is with us. tom, good to see you. i know that people will be getting in their car, see that price at the gas station. will you put it into perspective for us though? we have not been traveling by car a whole lot in the last year. so what does this look like in perspective to other years past? >> well, if you go back to 2011 to 2014, memorial day weekend, we had gas prices between $3.50 and about $3.90. so we've been here before. $3 might seem apocalyptic and it is if you live in california where you are about $4.20. but we've had this kind of inflation. it is not like what we're seeing in housing or what we're seeing in grains or lumber or whatever. so that is not the problem. i think the problem, and i think this is a little bit of a weekend dress rehearsal for it, is the supply chain. you know, that last mile or 200 miles of the supply chain for gasoline has been strained and we've lost a lot of the drivers that drive those big transport trucks on the road. so that when we get high demand, and i'm not so worried abou

let's bring in tom closer, head of energy analysis at oil price information services tom, good to see you as always thanks for joining us. are you surprised that we haven't seen a bigger reaction in oil prices? >> i'm not really surprised. may tends to be a month where gasoline prices can peak in the futures market once it was apparent that colonial had a handle on this and they might substantially restore operations by the weekend, things calmed down. i might also add that we've had three weeks in a row where we averaged over 7 million barrels a week in imports. there's plenty of gasoline in the north atlantic to supply a lot of the deep water ports on the east coast. >> what about more broadly this attack in general. is it a ground-breaking moment for the industry will it lead to big change >> i think it's a ground-breaking moment for the digital world or the cyber world. we did stories years, decades ago about colonial pipeline and whether terrorists could shut it down and the answer was no, they have the readiness to rebuild miles of pipeline very easily. you know, when you're in
