this is what i did in oklahoma. we have to pool our exercises and we realize the portfolio approach allowed us to do so in a way that draws together rather than pushing us apart. the second pillar involves strengthening the connective tissue for the research and development system, and the nonprofit foundations and the private sector and we talked a lot about partnerships. but data and experience shows, and i think you would probably agree with this, that we could do much better in this area. we need a rigorous approach that leverages each partner's strength and mission and delivers value based on each partner's contribution and the needs as well. we've tackled this in oklahoma where i created a program facilitating interaction between industry academia and 10 areas of mutual benefit and you think about this, what does the private company exist to do or a university or college exist to do and what do they care most about and what are the intersection points and i came up with 10, not really inclusive but a good star
