christine maddela is live in old city where another day of negotiations just wrapped up without a deal. is there any hope at this point? >> reporter: there is still hope. i talked to a septa representative who told me negotiations here in old city, they are done for the day but the union and septa are scheduled to meet back here tomorrow at noon and she told me since they are heading back to the table that's a good sign. today i also talked to the vice president of utu. the union representing bus and rail operators that services parts of delaware county and montgomery county. he said they are negotiating with septa. his members authorized a strike already so they could also walk out if negotiations break down. >> this strike would be a really big problem for me because i need to get to and from work and i work in center city. >> she lives in darby and doesn't have a car. she relies on septa. if septa goes on strike these buses won't run. >> it will cause a problem. >> he commutes to delaware county for his job. if the transport union walks out he won't be able to get on a philadelphia

monique braxton is live in old city where the meeting is scheduled to begin at noon. a lot of people are nervous about this. >> reporter: a lot of people are nervous. a lot of people are paying attention to the talks that septa tells us they hope will continue. here is what we learned from the union leaders. they tell us if they strike, they will give bus, subway and trolley riders 24 hours notice. more than 60,000 students use septa to get to and from school. we have been talking with parents and the school district since the strike vote by union members on sunday. the school district tells us, classes will continue on a regular basis for about five days the school buses will be pro -- after five days, the school buses will be provided some of them by the school district. here is what some parents and students had to say. >> i have little cousins that are in high school. they get the bus every day to get to school, becauseóoarÑ the schools aren't in walking distance like they used to be. >> my children aren't going to have a way to get to school. so i don't know. i r

nbc 10's rosemary connors is live outside the bargaining session in old city.what's the impact you're finding on local colleges? >> well, renee, today i've been checking in with colleges all over philadelphia and many of them have already sent out alerts to students and stuff just to make sure there aren't any surprises come monday if there is a strike. part of their planning means extending and expanding shuttle services, helping to organize car pool options. it's not just students we're talking about, it's also prof s professors who may have trouble getting to campus. >> i think it's going to be hard. i think they'll be cancelling classes. students say it's inevitable that they sean their professors will sometimes be late. >> they live so close, like 30 minutes. they take the trolley and transfer from the market frankford to the broad street line. they take that every day to and from. >> reporter: this contingency plan has been introduced to students and staff. regional rail will be the only septa service available. >> they have the regional rail but that's m

a lot of people in old city philadelphia were wearing light coats tonight. we're going to have some of the coldest temperatures in months. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist brittney shipp is watching those temperatures. what's in store tomorrow? >> you'll definitely need a thick jacket tomorrow morning, temperatures dropping down into the mid 40s for philadelphia, cooler than that in the lehigh valley and the poconopoconos. 49 degrees in wilmington. a closer look at our wakeup temperatures, 8:00 a.m., expect conditions to be in the mid to high 40s for philadelphia, 42 in allen town, in the 30s for the poconos, closer to 50 for atlantic city. that's a cold start to the morning, especially if you plan on heading out a little early for the eagles game. you'll definitely need to bundle up with temperatures mainly in the mid 50s before the game. by 1:00 p.m. 58 degrees, chilly conditions and by 4:00 p.m. temperatures at 60 degrees. we're well below average as we head to tomorrow. i'll go over the details on how we're going to end your weekend and what to expect co
